The Elixir is a space-maximizing, high-quality OLED desk lamp. It is designed simply and straight, and it is able to be folded down along the edge of the desk. You can maximize your work space. Moreover, it has a power outlet on the arm of the lamp, so that you do not need to hassle with other awkward outlets below the desk.

Normally, the desks of people who have to spend a lot of time at their work surface in the office or at school is messy. This is especially true for people in the field of architecture and design, as well as offices with a lot of paper work. When your desk is a mess with a lot of stuff, you might feel that a desk lamp with a traditional base or clamp is also in the way.

In response to the above problem, which I am very familiar with as a student and designer, my proposal, the foldable desk lamp “Elixir,” must also be able to be folded along the edge of the desk when it is not in use, or when there is not enough space, because of the project materials on the desk. As a part of these additional criteria, the Elixir can be folded three ways (down, up, and over), you can install it to any side of the desk using the clamp. The arm can rotate up and down, right and left, and back and forth by 120 degrees.
In the past, for a user to charge a laptop or cellphone, it was necessary to bend over to get under the desk in order to find and inconveniently located outlet low on the wall to plug in the cord. This is another issue that I wanted to address.

I focused on the appearance of the lamp, and the ease and price of manufacture. Because the Elixir is designed to be installed with a clamp on the side of desk in order to save space, it has to be made out of lightweight material. After iterations and the elimination of wood and metal as possible materials, I choose plastic. Simultaneously, I considered the functions and aspects of the lamp and how to create an attractive form and surface for both the stakeholders and users. Also, there are minimum of materials to manufacture in order to reduce the price of production.

The Elixir will help people who rely on efficient and productive work surfaces to do their job well. This lamp offers a clean and organized area. A desk lamp is one of the most visible and mood-setting office products, and a product which people see and use everyday. By using the Elixir, there is value given the working environment and an improvement to the daily experience of work.
