E-Mailbox combines the function of mailbox and the printer. It can relieve traveller’s worries, and cut back on the use of paper stamps. Tourists can sent their postcard anytime as they want. They don’t need to go to the post office in a hurry once they come back late from their tour. The user also can create their own stamp for their friends. E-Mailbox inspires the aesthetics of the people, and make the people’s relationship better.
2. The Brief: Summarize the problem you set out to solve. What was the context for the project, and what was the challenge posed to you?Most people like to record their important journey through the postcard. Travellers write postcards to note their important memories and share them with friends. However, sometimes travellers cannot buy the postage stamps in time due to their travel delay or the closure of the post offices. Travellers usually go back in a late night and the post office is already close. Sometime they just give up sending their postcard even they already wrote it because they cannot find a store to buy the stamp.
E-Mailbox combines the function of mailbox and the printer. It can relieve traveller’s worries, and cut back on the use of paper stamps.
Tourists can write down the travel experience in their postcard, then insert their postcard into the E-Mailbox. E-Mailbox will print the stamp automatically. The user also can design their own stamps for their friend by drawing on the touch panel on the E-Mailbox. This convenient feature can arouse the interest in writing and sending the postcards because the tourists can easily create the unique stamp through the E-Mailbox.
Furthermore, with E-Mailbox, post office can organize the post system conveniently. Every letter, postcard, and package can quickly be connected with the post system through the Internet. Also, they can save the human resource for selling the stamp.
3. The Intent: What point of view did you bring to the project, and were there additional criteria that you added to the brief?Fewer and fewer are going to use physical mail to contact. More and more people use email or DHL, Fedex to send their mail. However, people still like to send the postcard to their friends. It is an amazing sharing experience that make people closer. We all had these experiences that coming back to hotel very late because of the long tour. The post office is definitely close at that time. How can we buy the stamp and post the postcard or mail to our friends?
E-Mailbox is the design that tried to solve this problem. Also, with printing technology, E-Mailbox can reduce the usage of the stamp. It is a more suitable way for people to send their physical mail.
