For a class project, we had to design an exhibition poster for an artist. I chose Antony Gormley, a British fine artist, who has made sculpture that explores the relation of the human body to space at large-scale installations. He uses his body as a medium. This is an exhibition poster where the body structure is composed of his artist statement.
2. The Brief: Summarize the problem you set out to solve. What was the context for the project, and what was the challenge posed to you?The problem was how to show the artwork in a special way. After observing his artwork, I used his artist statement words and made a sculpture form in 2-d mensional medium.
3. The Intent: What point of view did you bring to the project, and were there additional criteria that you added to the brief? After the exhibition poster was designed, I designed the interactive screen, i-phone application along with exhibition posters.
4. The Process: Describe the rigor that informed your project. (Research, ethnography, subject matter experts, materials exploration, technology, iteration, testing, etc., as applicable.) What stakeholder interests did you consider? (Audience, business, organization, labor, manufacturing, distribution, etc., as applicable)I thought about how to call attention to non-visual arts people. The poster had to give interest about the artist to anyone.
5. The Value: How does your project earn its keep in the world? What is its value? What is its impact? (Social, educational, economic, paradigm-shifting, sustainable, environmental, cultural, gladdening, etc.)The impact was how to graphically express the fine arts.
Convincing and charming posters. It would have been even more perfect if they expressed the sense of mass of Antony Gormley’s original sculptures. – Kim Hyungjin
I really appreciate the simple and clear visual representation. – Eunkyung Jeon
This is a classical example of a design idea that you can sell over a phone. The result is visually intriguing, however. The graphic representation reflects its subject, but not trying to mimic it superficially. – Sulki and Min Choi
