Anisha, a table light designed by Lievore Asocaidos for Foscarini, is a fluid, organically formed ellipse surrounding empty space. Anisha was inspired by the idea of an eternal object with a simple, mysterious form that transforms when the defining frame magically fills with light. The plastic ellipse is made of ABS with an LED bulb housed in the upper part of the lamp. A dimmer touch switch is used, instead of the typical light switch, which does not alter the shape of the design.

The goal for Anisha was to create a continuous, fluid shape. Although the fixture appears as a minimalist object, it is truly an object of synthesis created through technical developments. The challenge in creating Anisha was to guarantee stability for an practically two-dimensional body. The designers created a base with the necessary support that also allows for all the empty space that is also perfectly integrated with the ellipsoidal profile to maintain the fluidity of the shape.

Lievore Asocaidos Studio works to represent values through form. The design for Anisha links value to time through its continual form. The goal was for the shape and the light in the center to be both uninterrupted and eternal. The designers managed to retain the fluidity of the design by using an LED light which is housed in the upper part of the lamp and is seamlessly camouflaged within the structure. Also, the use of a dimmer touch switch instead of a typical light switch is perfectly integrated in the shape to not disrupt the fluidity.

For Lievore Asociados, technology is only a means to help achieve their desire. Anisha was created from the original idea of an eternal object. Through complex technological development, Anisha became on object of synthesis. The research and developments allow Lievore Asociados to solve the problem of guaranteeing sufficient stability for an object whos effect is that of a two-dimensional shape. They managed not to contaminate the design with the usual switch, but used a touch switch. The presence of the light filling the space is as important as the shape itself. An LED bulb was not chosen because it is fashionable, but because a small light source allowed for complete abstraction.

Anisha was first made in white, creating a serene tone on tone effect against a white wall. Red, the color of excellence, was chosen for its striking and noticeable presence.

Anisha’s value lies in its form and color. It creates a presence in both its physical nature and the empty space it creates. The light fills the empty space when turned on, highlighting Anisha’s shape. Lievore imagined a design based around a halo of diffused light, projected onto a background wall to create a kind of backlight. White was the first color chosen from its association with the color of light. Lievore also enjoys the calming “tone on tone effect created by placing a white object against a white wall,. Red on the other hand makes Anisha more dynamic adding to its personality.
