'Share a Seed' is a portal for sharing gardening experiences. It will be installed in different localities wherein you can share surplus seeds that you've grow at home or even take someone else's.You can leave a message for the person who has shared his/her seeds with you.

People can leave their seed sachets (Pudia in Hindi) in the container along with the plant name and their house number (optional) so that the person who has taken the seeds can come and see the actual plant and understand other things about it.

Have you ever passed by a house wondering you wanted the same plant that grows in that house? 'Share a Seed' enables the users to share surplus seeds between different localities or even amongst neighbors. The challenge was to provide gardening lovers the opportunity to interact either personally or anonymously.

I am a gardening freak, who feels there are always surplus seeds at home that someone else may need. The project bridges the gap between the person who intends to give and the person who intends to take. They have the option of sharing as much information as they wish and interact at their own convenience.

This project it driven by the love for gardening. 'Share a Seed' is a container that comprises of a small stack of squarish waste papers, a pen, a spoked wheel for holding the seed sachets and basic info-graphics to make your own sachet. It can easily be maintained easily since the product only requires refilling of papers and the pen. A number of materials were tested in order to provide the form the right kind of durability and serve the purpose. It attempts to serve two types of users; the people who want to share their surplus seeds and the ones who seek more varieties. Since 'Share a Seed' is a communal outdoor product, it is weather proof and easily accessible for everyone. This project can be replicated at very minimal rates, enabling people to adapt to it on a larger scale.

The product not only increases interaction amongst people but also spreads a positive vibe at a social level. If the users wish to interact on a personal level, they can do so by providing their house number on the seed sachet. This gives them a chance to share information such as, whether the plant is only fit for a pot or can be planted in the ground, its flowering season or what kind of manure is ideal for it.

The product can be used by anyone, free of cost. It attempts to serve a need that was always there but didn't grab our attention so much.

'Share a Seed' attempts to inculcate the habit of gardening amongst people who are fond of it as well as the ones who have never tried it before. The basic instructions of folding the seed sachet provided inside the container makes the user try his own. It promotes the concept of kitchen gardens and a healthier lifestyle.
