Oron is an artist, researcher and curator whose pioneering work with the Tissue Culture and Art Project is considered a leading biological art project. He is the founding director of SymbioticA, an artistic research centre housed within the University of Western Australia’s School of Anatomy, Physiology and Human Biology.
Under Oron’s leadership, SymbioticA has gone on to win the Prix Ars Electronica Golden Nica in Hybrid Art (2007) and the WA Premier Science Award (2008). In 2009, Oron was recognized in Thames & Hudson’s book 60 Innovators Shaping our Creative Future and was named one of Icon Magazine’s top 20 Designers. His work has been exhibited at venues such as MoMA, Mori Art Museum, Tokyo and National Art Museum of China.
Oron was a research fellow at Harvard Medical School, a visiting scholar in Stanford’s Department of Art and Art History, a visiting professor of Design Interaction at the Royal College of Arts in London and a visiting professor at Aalto University’s School of Art, Design and Architecture. His work is often cited as inspiration to diverse genres such as new materials, biotech, textiles, architecture, ALife, ethics, fiction, cultural studies and food.
Zack is an artist working at the intersection of the natural, built and information environments. He runs the Center for Genomic Gastronomy and CoClimate with Cathrine Kramer, collaborating with scientists, chefs, hackers and farmers in Asia, Europe and North America. They are currently curating the Strange Weather exhibition at the Science Gallery in Dublin, Ireland. Zack teaches in the MFA Collaborative Design at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon, USA and helped launch the Center for Experimental Media Art at the Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology in Bangalore, India.
Dr. Beloff is an internationally acclaimed artist who has been actively creating and exhibiting worldwide in museums, galleries and art events since the late 1980′s. In recent years in Hamburg and in Helsinki 2012, in Vienna 2011, in Brazil 2008 and at the Venice Biennale 2007, during 2013 invited exhibition participations in Finland, Norway and in Brussels. She is frequently publishing and lecturing about her artistic research practice at universities and various conferences.
Her research interests include practice-based investigations into a combination of various materials and methods with technology, information and organic matter, locating the core of the research in the cross section of art/design, technology and science. Her research has had a specific focus on an enhanced human figure in the global society who is adapting to an increasingly complex world that includes technological, modified environments. Additionally to research papers, articles and book-chapters to various art-focused publications, the outcome of the research is in a form of process-based and participatory installations, programmed conceptual structures and networked wearable objects.
Currently she is Associate Professor and Head of Section at IT-University in Copenhagen.
Robert initially trained as a silversmith at the Australian National University School of Art, and enjoys a reputation as a skilled hollowware maker. Primarily working with aluminum, titanium and stainless steel, he combines such nontraditional alloys with other materials as diverse as plastics, stone, ceramics and glass.
He established F!NK & Co. in 1993, which is based on colorful, durable, anodized aluminum. The company has over 30 distinctive products—proudly Australian designed and made—that are stocked in prestigious design stores, notably the MoMA Store and V&A Shop.
F!NK won the 2005 Small to Medium Manufacturer Award in the ACT Chief Minister’s Export Awards and was a finalist in the 2005 Austrade Australian Export Awards. F!NK was also featured in Australian Design as part of the 2010 London Design Festival.
Robert Foster has been represented in COLLECT (London) since 2004 and continues to exhibit worldwide. His lighting installation The Journey (2010) received the 2011 ACT Architecture Award for Lighting and the IES Award of Excellence. Foster’s works are held in major public collections such as the National Gallery of Australia, the Powerhouse Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and Museum Fur Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg.
