Gauthier & Nolet is a fictional Architect Firm based in quebec. They are specialized in the making of audacious curved buildings.
I created them a brand new visual identity (New logo, stationery, website and posters).
I had to invoke typographically curves in the logotype and I had to create a visually appealing and modern design.
3. The Intent: What point of view did you bring to the project, and were there additional criteria that you added to the brief?I brought my vision of architecture and a touch of boldness. I decided as well to use only two colours to create an harmony throughout the whole concept.
4. The Process: Describe the rigor that informed your project. (Research, ethnography, subject matter experts, materials exploration, technology, iteration, testing, etc., as applicable.) What stakeholder interests did you consider? (Audience, business, organization, labor, manufacturing, distribution, etc., as applicable)I made quite a research for this project. I first took a look at what all competitors had done and then decided to make something that would distinguish Gauthier & Nolet from other architect firms. I wanted punching colours that would create an hot and cold contrast, so that would represent the strength of the buildings through weather and temperatures. I also chose two colours because it was cheaper and since they would print more than 1000 copy of the posters, it was the best choice. I played with typography to break the usual corporate look. I allowed myself to make a more serious design because the aimed audience is adult 25+ and the firm itself.
5. The Value: How does your project earn its keep in the world? What is its value? What is its impact? (Social, educational, economic, paradigm-shifting, sustainable, environmental, cultural, gladdening, etc.)I think I created a bold identity, that really set itself apart from other architect firms. Its impact brings new vision to the world of architecture and makes it look really amazing!
I was in favour of this getting the winning prize, I was so impressed with the thoughtfulness and consistency of the identity, the great typography and the unique and interesting identity. – Shelley Gruendler
