We were asked to pick a local business in New York City to rebrand for a project of Design and Branding class, taught by Kevin Brainard at School of Visual Arts, MFA Design.
Satsko is a sake bar and a Japanese restaurant located in East Village, New York City. Bar values traditional Japanese cuisine and customs while they blend those values with diverse and modern culture. In my design approach, I've merged traditional Japanese visual language with contemporary geometry and typography and created an immersive identity system for Satsko.
A very nice system that balanced restraint without becoming sterile.
Though maybe not appropriate to the actual business the direction was very strong and the strategy shows a promising future.
