"Foldariod" is a foldable stool that is designed to maximise storage capacity and transport efficiency for pop-up exhibitions or roadshows. Being inspired from the 'distance-angle' relationship principle in folding, "Foldariod" are created by a self-drafted template that allow them to form from a single sheet to its structural form without much complexity. Furthermore, it also enhances the pop-up space through the geometrical pleasing aesthetic of the folds on the eco friendly cardboard.
The inspiration of this project was based on observations of pop-up space or roadshows that have furniture like stools or table. The goal was to create a temporary furniture for such events that address the issues of transportation and storage.
Although there are modular furniture in the market, but the transporting of furniture is still quite inefficient due to the weight of the furniture for the pop-up space or roadshows. Sometimes, it even requires the lorry or van to go multiple times due to the limited space the vehicle has.
In addition, there are always spare furniture stored at the pop-up space or roadshows. With limited storage area within the area, a lot of organisers or exhibitors have problems storing the extra furniture they have.
Thus, "Foldariod" aims to be the solution to such transportation and storage problems. Setting up of Foldariod is easy. All it takes is just a pulling force by pulling the coloured-cord with the cord fastener, and tie a knot at the end for it to be secure. At the same time, "Foldariod" is also sustainable by using recyclable material like the cardboard.
Is another origami inspired product, but very clever and very well done. And the aesthetics are very nice.
