The Clikk High chair is the latest product from Norwegian baby furniture and accessories maker, Stokke. This reconfigurable, easy-to-assemble, high chair is designed to grow with the child and can be used from 6 to 36 months, from infant to toddler.
BACKGROUND
Stokke has a long heritage of baby products focused on the best interest of the child. Starting with their iconic Tripp Trapp high chair in 1972, the brand is known for creating products out of quality, long-lasting materials and centering their design on concepts that grow with the child.
While Stokke has a presence in the US market, it’s small compared to other popular brands. We partnered with their team to drive and expansive, American market research effort, asking the real experts, parents, what they really want to make mealtimes and high chair use easier. Visiting their homes, we observed mealtime and discussed their high chair purchase journey, brand perceptions, and overall product experiences – carefully identifying pain points and unmet needs of both the US parent and child.
The findings provided to be the north star for our design concepts. Not only did parents want something that was easy to clean but they wanted something that aesthetically fit into their curated home environment, in gender-neutral colorways. And while traditional Stokke products start with a base item with accessories added, US parents wanted a turnkey package with everything included. Plus, this high chair needed to grow with the child and hit a price point that was sub-$200. All of these high-level insights informed our design strategy and inspired our design team throughout the design process.
