Two Pillars is a small business that is focused on helping people solve the common everyday issues that they experience in the household. Our product, Duo Cover is a next-generation microwave invention that makes your leftovers moister, steams delicious new recipes, and keeps things from splattering everywhere. Plus no more 'ouch, hot dish' burnt fingers after the microwave is used.

Our target market is eco-conscious households with both parents being decision-makers, but our demographics indicate a 43% higher conversion rate for women over men. These households love to cook and choose eco-friendly alternatives over single-use items. We wanted to help people solve the common everyday issues that they experience in the household. Aside from that, we wanted to create solutions that were both economical and eco-friendly.

Most people use paper towels and plastic wrap to cover their food and avoid splatter. Duo Cover allows you to keep those paper towels and plastic wrap for other jobs, saving you money while saving the earth by cutting down on waste. Made out of 100% food-safe silicone that's free of BPA and FDA-approved, Duo Cover won't harden, crack, peel, crumble, dry out, rot, or become brittle with time.

This new addition to our kitchen collection was made and tested to include many unique features. One such feature is the microwave-safe magnets that are built in on the top of this design which allow the consumer to attach our product to the inside of their microwave.

We all know not to put forks in the microwave, either because we've been told not to or because we found out the hard way what happens when you do. However, it's a myth that no metal can go in microwaves. Metal reflects waves, which is why your microwave's walls are made of or contain metal – so the waves can bounce around inside your microwave, where they belong. Sometimes, however, lots of pieces of metal together (like the prongs of a fork) or metal with very thin or sharp edges causes sparks to fly due to something called arcing. Our magnets are specially designed not to arc through their rounded shape, which allows the Duo Cover to be out of sight and out of mind until it is ready to be used.

Another important feature is the MoistureLock™ Knob which generates steam and revitalizes any food. Microwaves are basically steamers already and work by exciting the h20 molecules in your food (yes, the water in your food finds microwaves exciting), thus generating steam. Duo Cover simply traps in moisture, producing steamed meals that taste much better than when you use your microwave without it.

The microwave is an underappreciated kitchen appliance and we understand that there it has a great deal of hidden potential. Equally important, Duo Cover helps people save time as well as the environment. For example, the average person spends at least 13 minutes cleaning up in the kitchen after a meal and we know that this time is a valuable commodity. With this splatter-proof, eco-friendly design we want to help people regain this lost time and keep their kitchen and microwave sparkling clean.

This project was launched on Kickstarter and within the first few days we received the honor of being featured as Kickstarter's "Project We Love". The Kickstarter community solidified our guiding philosophy which is to create goods that impact the environment in a positive way and have seamless design and integration into your home. Duo Cover is the epitome of this in that we believe that there is a way to upgrade and enhance one's everyday life while also being environmentally conscious at the same time.
