Although electronic household appliances, furniture, and accessories are used in the same place, they are developed with intentions that differ too much. Household appliances are first and foremost understood as technical challenges for engineers to make certain functions repetitive. The aesthetics are oriented towards science fiction props and the automotive, aircraft, and power tool industries to make their performance visible. This misconception in design attempts to place industrial goods in a living context without respecting its rules. It, therefore, creates unloved objects unworthy of care and repair.
This misunderstanding manifested in vacuums.
The average usage of a vacuum is 16 min. per week, during the remaining 10.064 min. it's unwanted and hidden.
But living space is a precious good.
That is why we designed a vacuum that functions "ON" and "OFF".
With a different design focus, shifting from usage to a more holistic and realistic view, the vacuum becomes part of the interior.
We want to emphasize the "home" back into "home appliances".
The average usage of a vacuum is 16 minutes per week, in the 10.064 minutes left, the vacuum is corrupting the atmosphere surrounding it.
Living space has always been a precious good, that is why we designed one to function "ON" and "OFF" and make it a part of the interior.
The possibility to store its utilities inside saves valuable space because you can leave the vacuum out in the open and use it differently.
The height of 45cm, which is typical for our homes, this height enables many uses, like placing objects, or function as a stool.
Pipes and cluttering parts of the vacuum are needly stored inside its body
The outer shell is made of cork, to provide atmospheric - (high-quality, warm) technical (shock- and sound-absorbing) and ecological benefits (biodegradable).
The inner parts, except the motor, are molded out of biodegradable plastic and the interchangeable lids are made from darkened ash.
Its shape is the result of the combination of a cylindrical industrial vacuum plus a bagless version. The resulting body offers additional space to store pipes, hose, and suction nostrel needly.
The cylindrical shape and height are deliberately chosen to resemble objects at home, to make integration and conversion easy. The convex shape at the bottom functions as a bumper as well as a low center of gravity.
