Nashville-based Asurion fixes tech devices. The company helps people every day, all over the world, with their technology. With the construction of their new Nashville Global HQ, Asurion wanted to dramatically increase the company's visibility and bring its local teams together under one roof. Asurion's story is tied to Nashville, and their local roots are expressed throughout the building. They wanted to share their unique story as a point of pride, to inspire their workforce. From massive wall illustrations to 3d printed floor numbers, we designed every installation and graphic in this new workspace to express a story about helping people: locally, nationally, and all around the world.
Project Features:
Floor Numbers
We designed each large floor numbers to feature part of Asurion's repair story: from intricate circuit boards, to broken cell phone screens, to international power plugs, and the myriad tools that their technicians use to get things working again. The 565,000 square foot site encompasses two 9-story connected towers, and floor numbers feature a different story and a different technology. The 3d printed surface of the numbers needed to be fabricated in small sections, which were then carefully interleaved together into a unified final result.
Timeline
The 'History of Help' timeline recounts the dramatic evolution of Asurion in parallel with the rapid growth of cell phone technology. (Remember when cell phones were as big as a brick?) The company started as a roadside assistance business — providing an entirely different kind of help. Company milestones are flagged across the years, in parallel with 3d printed cell phone models and other personal tech from across the decades. The growth in Asurion customers — now numbering over three million — is overlaid as a dimensional bar chart.
What if… Illustration Series
A series of original wall graphic illustrations imagines how a little technical assistance might have helped different historic figures — from Amelia Earhart to Otis Redding — and possibly changed the course of history. Through judicious changes of color and detail, the same illustration is then used to depict a different scene and time, showing how an everyday person might also be helped. The series of 29 original illustrations are featured in work spaces across six levels of the complex, bringing Asurion's mantra to life: Actually Helpful. Delightfully Simple. Remarkably Human.
