Genesis Oasis

Genesis Oasis is a concept that pursues a key Korean aesthetic value: the beauty of emptiness. We believe that the "Less is more" design helps users achieve spiritual freedom and find a tranquil mind. In this busy world that we live in, being able to find a getaway and release the stress is the new kind of luxury.

Exterior design by Jackson Zhang:

The exterior or this luxury cruiser is heavily effected by the Genesis design language, focusing on the two lines. I used the asian philosophy of "less is more" to design the whole vehicle. I removed many unnecessary design elements because I don't want to over design this car. Instead, I used visual phenomenons to make the design looks more futuristic. For example, the transition from clear glass to frosted glass, the 3D pattern on top of the roof, the contrast between glossy black and metallic silver material. The genesis matrix texture is also implemented at many places of the car.

Interior design by Ao Zhou:

Followed by our concept embrace the emptiness, I build up the interior philosophy which is called the "beauty of breathing space". The needs of breathing space embodied the universal longing of people to escape their quotidian world to commune with nature. Inspired by natural geological patterns and the landscape. The form and functions of the interior address the future needs of breathing space and showcase a symbiosis between human, machine, and nature.

From the early exploration, I tried to bring in natural elements to mimic the environments. The comfy ergonomic curves are great for resting and getaway experience. The intersect form language naturally create the control panel within the lounge area.

The seat and entertainment center. Inspired by the concept of Sound Lounge: We wanted to create an inviting and inspiring environment where the passengers can enjoy the beautiful music during the commute. The interior also features a big screen for entertainment, the screen flip up for watching movies with all the sensory immediacy of a movie theater, but better — the seat is designed to be both luxurious and flexible so you can adjust to your perfect sitting position. And the form changes of the wood trims naturally create the shape of armrest.

The IP design inspired by the coffee table, the IP create a welcoming and engaging feeling for passengers. For this rotatable IP,Rotation is for mode changing, like entering mode, driving mode and lounging mode. The steering wheel is hidden beneath the IP when in autonomous mode.

I create two colorways for the interior design. For the base trim, the use of layered greens with gold accent, warm the palette up with wooden and metallic references. Light is fundamental for space and essential for human wellbeing. We tried to bring more natural light, it makes our vehicle more harmony between exterior and interior, nature and passenger.

For the second trim, we use a classic color combination, dark red and oxford blue, that screams elegance when paired with leather, wood, and frosted glass. The wood trims create a smooth and elegant flow through the interior landscape. When we experience the unique lighting and shadows created by the environment and the vehicle, we feel balanced and calm.

Environment designed by Yenny Zhang:

The retail experience for Genesis Oasis includes a series of pop-up in cities and installations in wild nature. In order to bring users a tranquil mindset and spiritual freedom, I create two touch points for users - 1. Bring Nature To Urban Life 2. Bring Us To Nature Landscape. The first part of pop-ups are located in big cities, providing people peaceful getaway spots. The second part of installations are spread in wild landscape, melting our Genesis Oasis into the nature. Let nature advertise it, and let us embrace the empitiness.
