TEMPO TURNS DOWN THE VOLUME, WITH STYLE.
Tempo is a modular wall and ceiling baffle system that improves acoustics but also functions as art in residential and commercial interiors.
Unfortunately, modular acoustic solutions have been one-dimensional for a long time, in three-dimensional spaces. The wall couldn't match the ceiling, the ceiling had only one or two options and there wasn't a solution that could go on the wall or ceiling.
The market for ceiling baffles contains solutions where you either hang every individual baffle or you use a rigid and ugly channel to hold the PET, neither including a way to inform the user how far away to space the panels or their orientation. On top of that, just picking out a color for only 1 or 2 panel options is not what we call "fun". As designers, we sought to provide the tools for the user to be creative and apply Tempo appropriately to the space, not just because a baffle is needed. Then we layer in the fact that the same panels can be used on both the ceiling and the wall, for the first time. This means that you can have a cohesive acoustic solution in a room or across a floor plate of a building, even if you change up the selected modules… it still works together. That's the power of Tempo, all 12 modules and the systems they attach to are not polarizing of each other but unify the product visually and provide an experience that those designing, installing, or experiencing can enjoy.
TEMPO. IT'S ACOUSTIC EYE CANDY.
There's a lot going on in an office space or classroom so visually we wanted to create something that could look effortlessly simple and unique in the same glance. Sure, you can add some disruptive aspects to it depending on the patterns used but overall that's up to the designer/user. All 12 modules can be used separately or together, with all of them aligning in some form or another. The cork plug is an interjection of a warm and delightful material that is soft to the touch when the user is attaching the modular panels to the sleepers on the wall. Dowels on the ceiling are detailed in a way that makes it easy for the installer to pop the PET panels on while not making it overly complex or rigid visually.
DESIGNING
The grid is simple and easy, 4' x 4' multiplied by however many times your project desires. Low on labor and high on value, Tempo is easy to install with simple ash sleepers + cork plugs for the wall or suspended ash dowels with carved details easily index PET panels on the ceiling. There are 4 pattern families with 3 patterns per family… so that's 12 different patterns that can be used to create almost limitless combinations but they also work beautifully on their own so no need to stress over having to create the greatest masterpiece ever.
EXPERIENCING
Tempo addresses the largest complaint in modern workspaces and classrooms, noise. Whether overhead or on the wall, Tempo reduces echoes and keeps the everyday noises from overwhelming any situation. Think of Tempo as 3-dimensional, functional art that can inspire, energize and/or center the person experiencing it depending on the pattern + color.
ENVIRONMENT
We are proud and committed to design and manufacture furniture, in the United States, that is made from recycled content and environmentally friendly materials. Because Tempo is designed as individual components, made with simple and honest materials (PET made from 60% post-consumer recycled content, ash, and natural cork), the entire system can be easily disassembled and recycled at the end of the product's life.
MODULES - PET felt made from 60% post-consumer recycled material
CEILING COUPLER - Powder Coated + Machined Steel
WALL SLEEPERS AND CEILING DOWELS - Solid Ash
WALL PLUGS - Natural Cork
USE
You shouldn't need to be an acoustic engineer to improve the sound quality of your space. We studied and learned the intricacies of sound waves so you didn't have to. The NRC rating for the Ceiling Modules is 0.90 and Wall Modules are 0.85. *Nerd alert, a NRC rating of 1.0 is 100% sound absorption… what did you say… sorry, we can't hear you ;)
