Waste Less Chair
Waste less chair: Convertible chair made of an oak log
2. The Brief: Summarize the problem you set out to solve. What was the context for the project, and what was the challenge posed to you?The problem was the waste of the leftover wood after beam production or any building or furniture element production. This chair is kind of a symbol of that problem not a solution.
3. The Intent: What point of view did you bring to the project, and were there additional criteria that you added to the brief? We created the project because we want to bring new kind of thinking methods into furniture design and architecture, methods which are not easy but very enjoyable! We dont like used paths.
4. The Process: Describe the rigor that informed your project. (Research, ethnography, subject matter experts, materials exploration, technology, iteration, testing, etc., as applicable.) What stakeholder interests did you consider? (Audience, business, organization, labor, manufacturing, distribution, etc., as applicable)As we are architects we have an architectural way of thinking when we create an object like this, we dont like to make forms, the true concept forms itself. We have a carpenter workshop where we manufacture our items by ourselves.
5. The Value: How does your project earn its keep in the world? What is its value? What is its impact? (Social, educational, economic, paradigm-shifting, sustainable, environmental, cultural, gladdening, etc.)As I sad it can be a symbol of waste. Its not a solution but maybe opens up some eyes.
6. Did the context of your project change throughout its development? If so, how did your understanding of the project change?A lot of people have trunks in their backyards..especially the people living outside of the city. We got a lot of feedbacks from people that they want to make this theirselves and thats a good thing. We dont want to sell this chair we wanted to give an idea with it. You just need to make four iron clamps and you buy eight of those iron hinges and put it together. It does not need any explanations its soo simple anybody can make this at home
Very interesting transformative object that takes low-value material and creates a high-value product.
