Simon Kavanagh
Jury Captain
KP International Development & Education Design at Kaospilots

Born in Dublin, Simon Kavanagh received his B.A. in Art and Design Education (a joint degree which incorporates 3 years of Visual Communication) at 21. For the next 6 years, Simon worked as a Creative Director in an Irish Multimedia company, Interact. It was during these years that he designed, programmed or managed approximately 600 multimedia titles in the business, educational, IT, online-Gaming, leisure and banking sectors for such clients as Oracle, Microsoft, Chase, Reuters, Esat (02), and Masterfoods and set up divisions in NYC and Paris. He then became a consultant in R&D for Windmill Lane Studios in the areas of Interactive Television, Content Management systems and online gaming before moving to Paris to further his studies in digital media and art.

He re-embarked on the educational path in Shanghai where he lectured a British degree in new media, design and culture for three years, until he sought and found the most experiential and leadership education in the world, Kaospilots. He continues to explore alternative approaches to education and pedagogy with the long term goal of transferring this knowledge back into art and design education.

Pernille-Skov-Cropped
Pernille Skov
Juror
Director of CAKI Center for Anvendt Kunstnerisk Innovation

Pernille Skov holds a mag.art degree in Art History from University of Copenhagen and a MA in Modern Art from Goldsmiths College, London.

Immediately after finishing her academic studies, she became self-employed when starting her own firm. She started out as editor and writer in Danish and Scandinavian publications on the subject of architecture and urban development, including being co-editor of an anthology on urban preservation. Along side her writing and editorial work, she made various art projects, which were shown in international exhibitions from Copenhagen to New York.

Realizing that she wanted to make a noticeable difference on the local situation, she decided to start an educational program called Creative Ghetto for the immigrant populations, training a selected group of people for jobs in the creative industries.

Later she worked as a communication consultant for various public institutions, including the Ministry of Integration and the Ministry of Science and Technology. But soon she wanted to do something different than being a consultant. Moreover, she missed the art world, so she started making web casts, specializing in communicating contemporary art in short films. Her costumers are as diverse as the Danish Arts Council, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and the Artist Fall Exhibition. She is also the founder and editor of a smaller independent initiative called ‘Kunstpausen TV’ (Art Break TV).
She is also partner in Art+Innovation Hub. Pernille now works as director for CAKI Center for Applied Artistic Innovation.

Morten-Nottelmann-Cropped
Morten Nottelmann
Juror
Consultant at Kaospilots

Morten Nottelmann is a friendly guy with a busy schedule. He splits his time between teaching, talking, thinking and doing within various fields of design, music, culture, entrepreneurship and educational philosophy. His ramblings are (sometimes) so good that people actually pays to hear them–something that never cease to amaze him.
He has received formal training from Rotterdam Conservatory in electronics and percussion and is a graduated Kaospilot. The list of his informal teachers is enormous and constantly expanding.
Currently he keeps himself busy in the consultancy department of The Kaospilots with teaching at universities, architecture schools, conservatories and in the private sector. He is also running workshops, works on turning a science museum into a sense-experience and writes on a start-up-guide for quiet girls.
