MAIA
The grow-to-table dinnerware set.
MAIA is a dinnerware set made from terracotta ceramic that allows the user to grow their own microgreens at home while containing all the necessary elements to serve a complete meal in one central decorative and multifunctional piece. Nowadays people want ingredients to be organic and as fresh as possible. This "Grow to table" set is inspired by the Farm-to-table movement, where the food on the table comes directly from a specific farm, without passing through a store, market or distributor, arriving as fresh as possible. In this case the MAIA set allows the user to grow their own microgreens at home and cut them until the moment cooking. MAIA considers the small household experience by containing all basic elements: two plates, two bowls, two saucers, one board and one planter in a single base with enough space for utensils, inviting the user to live minimally and consciously. MAIA. Nourish, Garnish, flourish.
MAIA dinnerware set brings users closer to natural fresh ingredients for consumption. In about 7 to 15 days the user will be able to grow a great variety of microgreens. Arugula, leek, dill, chia, kale, spinach, celery and many others. Microgreens are nutritionally dense and their growing process is as simple as placing the seeds over an organic pellet such as coconut husk and pouring water regularly. Improving food traceability contributes with food safety and reduces polluting emissions that come from large scale farming, food packaging and transportation. While inviting the user to live minimally, the set acts as a decorative unit when not being used, appearing as an aesthetic ceramic potting piece. The separate parts stack up within each other intuitively and can be taken out seamlessly when needed.
