The DESIRE is a portable, laser-based hair reduction system which features a combination of two advanced technologies and three hand pieces with various treatment spot sizes. The combination of vacuum and cooling tip technologies reduces treatment time, increases safety and efficacy and significantly improves patient comfort.

Designed with a focus on the user experience, the product is equipped with a 15" integrated multi-touch screen that covers the entire front of the product and utilises a friendly and intuitive user Interface. The hand-pieces can be easily switched using a simple 'Plug and Play' connector hidden under the screen.

The main challenge of the LightSheer DESIRE was the user interface. Most products of its kind do not focus on the user interface and they tend to be small. We were looking for a revolutionary solution. We made the user interface bigger than the device itself by implementing a large 15" fully customized touch screen that conceals the entire device behind it, including the mechanical connector. Another challenge was to find a solution to integrating the three most important elements on the front panel of the device: the large screen, applicator cradle and applicator connector.

Our approach included a primarily focus on the user interface alongside the device itself, rather than a primary focus on the device.

The early stages of the development process dealt with finding the right configuration of a product that is slightly too large as a table top device and slightly too small to be a standalone cart.

One of the reasons that motivated us to implement such a large screen was to create a user experience for both the therapist and the patient. This experience was created by a colorful and lively graphic interface that creates a friendly and non threatening atmosphere.

The LightSheer DESIRE is a prominent product in a highly competitive market and is a huge financial success. During the design phase we were already aware that we were created an iconic and a winning product, and it is would go on to be sold before the final stages of development.
