Project Overview

Beep is a smart, web-connected dial that transforms any speaker into a conduit for your streaming music.

Beep connects to your house's WiFi network, so everyone can take turns at DJ'ing. No app or login needed, if you have Pandora or Spotify and are connected to home WiFi, push and play. Even Install multiple Beeps around the house and set up 'Groups' to stream cooking music into the kitchen and BBQ beats out to your patio. LED's light up the retro face, twinkling with delight – an emotive interface and gently reminder Beep is there, on, ready for the next groove.

A simple tap of a physical or digital button, Beep fills a home with cloud-based music that people love. Beep is a seamless streaming system that reacts to what people want, making homes more intelligent and magical.

Beep was designed to spark a strong emotional tie with its user. We each have a magical bond with our music, and Beeps sole purpose is to enhance the listening experience. Bringing the depth and convenience of streaming music services to any speaker or any room in your home, letting you get back to the thing that really matters – the music.

Inspired by primary forms and unconventional materials, Beep is a modern and playful twist on the keystone of audio interaction – the knob. Designed to be a workhorse of intuitive audio function, the device is a stripped down celebration of a singular rotary knob erupting through a carefully weighted wedge. The knob itself is far from ordinary – its iconic faceted shape marries style and utility, a form that's a pleasure to turn while bursting to life to reveal 24-discreet dead front LEDs draped beneath Beep's skin. The carved, industrial look encourages people to play with it, while a grooved sunrise begins at the edge of the dial and across the plane of Beep's face, mimicking the vibrancy of music.

A modern twist on vintage, handmade audiophile products – Beep's LED's are a deeply emotive interface that gleams through the marked metallic finish, helping Beep literally leap to life as it twinkles on the shelf. Functions are dictated with unique animations: volume, pause, advance and play. Carefully programmed motion patterns flicker, fade and dash across Beeps face to make the svelte knob shimmer with character.

Built with people in mind, Beep stands above the noise by making the universe of music accessible to everyone, everywhere in their home with one simple device. Beep is here to make noise. It doesn't hide in the shadows with all the other glossy black consumer electronics; it stands out and stands proud to make sure it's always in reach and that the music is only one click away.

They're repurposing speakers and creating a new use for these legacy items that have been collected and cared for. It leverages a very simple and very basic technology to bring life back into the things you already have.
