The Wahoo Fitness Indoor Cycling Ecosystem is the world's first and only indoor cycling training system that combines connected fitness technology and user-friendly design to deliver a fully immersive indoor experience for any cyclist.
The ecosystem is comprised of the KICKR smart bike trainer, the KICKR CLIMB grade simulator, the KICKR HEADWIND smart fan, the ELEMNT BOLT GPS Cycling Computer, and the KICKR DESK. Together, they allow cyclists to enjoy a realistic riding experience, indoors. Compared to riding outside, indoor riding is safer, unaffected by bad weather, and more efficient. The KICKR smart trainer replaces a bike's rear wheel with a flywheel that simulates the feeling of a road. The trainer can be controlled from the native Wahoo Fitness app and used to complete structured workouts, or paired with third-party cycling apps which can automatically control the KICKR's resistance to match virtual terrain.
By replacing a bike's front wheel, the KICKR CLIMB allows cyclists to manually adjust their bike's incline while riding, giving them a realistic climbing position when climbing virtual terrain. By connecting to a third-party app like Zwift, the device can also automatically change a bike's pitch to match virtual terrain, creating the sensation of riding undulating roads.
KICKR HEADWIND is the world's first smart fan designed for fitness applications. By syncing with a heart rate monitor like the Wahoo TICKR, or a speed sensor, the fan can automatically adjust its speed to match a cyclist's output -- the harder you work, the stronger it moves wind. HEADWIND can also be controlled via built-in buttons, or via the Wahoo app.
The ELEMNT BOLT mounts to a bicycle's handlebar and can record outdoor rides, and then controls KICKR to simulate those rides indoors. In other workout modes, BOLT can control KICKR's resistance, and guide riders through pre-programed workouts. KICKR DESK is designed to integrate perfectly with the whole ecosystem. The desk places a rider's essentials -- smartphone, nutrition and hydration products, a towel, etc, within easy reach without interfering with the operation of any the ecosystem's components.
The whole ecosystem communicates using the Bluetooth and ANT+ wireless protocols, which allows them to work in concert. Used either in conjunction with an iPhone app or a handlebar mounted ELEMNT BOLT, the ecosystem can give a cyclist real time feedback on their output, speed, cadence, and the virtual distance they've covered. At the end of a ride, data collected can be analyzed via several different platforms, shared with others, and used to guide future workouts.
The Wahoo Indoor Cycling Ecosystem fully immerses cyclists in the experience of indoor cycling through web-based apps like Zwift. The Ecosystem makes virtual cycling platforms truly come alive, allowing cyclists to forget their physical reality as they enjoy riding with friends or family who live far away, participate in guided training sessions, group rides, or races together, all while experiencing the same virtual terrain thanks to their Wahoo ecosystem.
In addition to innovating the experience of indoor cycling by making it more immersive and engaging, Wahoo's industrial design makes the ecosystem easy to use with any kind of bike. The KICKR smart trainer arrives fully assembled, only requiring cyclists to unfold two legs and then set the height of the trainer's hub. By replacing a bike's rear wheel with a fixed flywheel, cyclists are able to take advantage of a direct connection between the KICKR's drive mechanism and the bicycle's chain -- an improved design that Wahoo is responsible for popularizing.
The KICKR and CLIMB both also use a unique system of interchangeable fittings that all them to work seamlessly with any type of bike axle, ensuring that any cyclists, no matter what kind of bike they own, is able to take advantage of the training ecosystem.
All three components sync together quickly and easily, and can be connected to additional devices like on-bike fitness sensor and wearable technology to collect additional data, allowing athletes to collect an unprecedented level of fitness data, or to simply enjoy the immersive experience of riding indoors.
The Wahoo ecosystem has created a truly engaging and realistic indoor riding experience, ending the days when indoor cycling was a grueling chore endured only by professional and exceptionally dedicated amateur athletes. Other brands make stationary trainers for riding indoors, but no other brand allows cyclists to fully immerse themselves in the experience.
