Flower Power Inc. Rebranding— A magic herbal wonderland in East Village

Assignment:

Rebrand a business in New York city that had a unique story to tell. The business I picked was Flower Power Inc.

About Flower Power Inc.:

Flower Power Inc, located in East Village, NYC, is an extraordinary retail store, an indispensable resource to superlative organically cultivated herbs, roots, flowers, leaves and seeds. They sell a considerable collection of loose, bulk dried herbs, in their potent natural state — for use in Teas, Infusions, Decoctions, Cooking, Aromatherapy, Bath and Body care. Just to name a few of their applications.

The store's resident Wise Woman/Green Witch, Lata Chettri-Kennedy, is a knowledgeable and quality driven herbalist who is loved and admired far and wide for her integrity as well as her loving positive energy and the empowering information she offers. All the Wise Women/Green Witches at Flower Power are well versed and practicing Healing Magic empowering all those that enter our premises—share the magic power of the plants and herbs with their neighbors.

Design Concept:

After interviewing the owner and completing competition research, I decided to help flower power tell the story—"A magic herbal wonderland in East Village". Besides, the new system also aims at providing them a better digital-platform communication.

A basic magic matrix, which was simplified based on ancient magic patterns, was designed to be the main visual element as well as the container for their diverse plant-pattern systems. These magic, circular and linear patterns are friendly for both print and digital display.

In addition, a dynamic and recognizable layout system was developed to carry different volumes of information, increasing the engagement of their neighborhood. A set of cards with different herbal information also serve this purpose.

To show the owner and her wise women's sincere care about their neighbors, the typefaces here with slightly inky, old school and hand-written looking were used as headers in order to create more humanity and warmth.

Now, Flower Power is ready to share their magic and mysterious stories with their neighbors!
