Plume are sleek, smart WIFI Pods that aim to redefine how we approach home WIFI through good design and a comprehensive mesh network. With a jewel-like shape, the Pods work with the Plume Cloud to achieve optimized connection with a small profile. The subtle yet sophisticated Pods are plugged into a wall socket in each room of the house, while the Plume Cloud manages the network, monitoring the network and the devices connected to it. The system continuously makes decisions to improve the signal, speed, and resiliency.
We needed to create a high-functioning product within a budget that would appeal to a mass market. The design needed to function better than our current design competitors and provide a design solution that was different from those available. Throughout the design process, we focused on the user; the goal of Plume is to simplify the user experience, and the design needed to reflect that. With no external buttons, screens or vents, users know they can simply plug them in, fire up the app, and get connected. Whereas regular WIFI systems are eyesores that are kept out of sight, the Plume Pods are designed to be perceived like a small gem on the wall, with materials and finishes that bring an elegance more akin to home furnishings than something associated with consumer electronics. The choice of color – champagne, pearl or onyx – feel more like picking out jewelry than electronics, and really give the customer freedom in picking what fits best for their home.
Connectivity is at the heart of Plume's design and function. In reinventing home wifi, Plume's Pods are considered an economical solution that keep pace with the demands of a globally shifting and increasingly remote workforce, shifting consumer patterns and efficient data sharing. With all of our home devices that now rely on WIFI, from laptops to fridges, a robust and stable connection is becoming increasingly important. Plume's Pods increase user productivity through constant, optimized connectivity that provides a solution for home and business networks alike.
