We worked with BleepBleeps to rethink the baby monitor and create a connected product that tackles children's sleep in new ways. Suzy Snooze is a colourful, characterful new sleep companion that uses the latest data and digital technologies to help children and parents get a better night sleep.
We knew that we needed to create a product that engaged children and parents, and was not just beautiful, but smart – with a digital experience to match.
'We saw this as a real opportunity to make something that was loved and useful and would grow with the child, as no existing products combine sleep training, a nightlight and a baby monitor all-in-one. We also knew that very few related products had much in the way of a pleasing, long-lasting design aesthetic that would appeal to the parents so we decided to create Suzy Snooze."
Tom Evans, Founder & CEO BleepBleeps
The attention to detail on Suzy supports this: the felt wrap on her base allows sound through but is also tactile, belongs in the bedroom and the subtle die-cut face offers just enough recognisable character. Her high gloss hat is bold and opaque when not illuminated, but allows a warm diffused light through. The low energy LED's stay cool to touch, and optimised colour output promotes natural sleep hormones.
Suzy Snooze is not only beautifully designed, she is intelligent, customisable and connected. Connected products tend to rely upon smart devices for control often losing some of the intuitiveness of a physical product. By having our hardware and software teams at MAP and We Are Hive work in close collaboration from the start, we have created a coherent, seamless experience that integrates perfectly across physical and digital. Suzy has enough physical interaction so that parents wouldn't need to fumble with smartphones in the night. Suzy also helps parents monitor their baby and adjust its settings remotely, without disturbing their children's sleep. What's more, by using the latest data technology parents will eventually be able to follow their child's sleep routine and view their bedtime diary in future releases of the BleepBleeps app.
