Before starting Guacamole Airplane, Ian worked as an in-house designer for Chubbies, Areaware and Mollusk Surf Shop. He did his undergraduate coursework in Environmental Science at Stanford and masters work in Packaging Design at Pratt, where he received funding from the National Science Foundation to build a series of experimental recycling machines, and created The Packaging Cookbook.
Takaki was born and raised in Osaka, Japan. After graduating from Ritsumeikan University of Economics, he started to work at an architectural firm and then changed his career to a publishing company. In 2000, he founded Design Force, starting his design career as a Creative Director. Since then he has a motto "Somewhere in the world, someone is waiting for me."
He has worked on projects for major Japanese companies such as Kokuyo, Lotte, Yakult, Rohto, Morinaga Milk, Aprica and the government of Kyoto-city.
Main Prizes He has won: Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2011 Best in the World, iF packaging awards 2012, and APD 2015 Best Creative Awards.
Also he is in charge of a director of JPDA (Japan Package Design Association), a vice-chairman of ASPaC (Asia Student Package Design Competition), and a design director of DOOR to ASIA (Designers in Residence Program).
Davide Mosconi (born in 1981) is an Italian Designer and Art Director with over 20 years of experience in the field of communication and design. After spending 7 years at McCann-Erickson as an Art Director working on international brands, in 2011, he shifted his focus to branding and design. He became a co- founder and Creative Director of Apart Collective, working on projects for international museum institutions and prominent fashion brands. Starting in September 2016, he has held the role of Co-Founder and Creative Partner at Auge Design, an acclaimed Italian design agency specializing in packaging and branding, with offices in Milan and Florence. In just a few years, Davide has made a significant contribution to elevating Auge Design's status as the most globally recognized Italian packaging design agency, achieving notable awards including Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, D&AD, ADCE, Dieline, Pentawards and has represented Italian creativity on various international design juries.
A design entrepreneur, Beau Oyler is the Founder of Enlisted Design where he works at the intersection of business, data, and design to create product experiences for the world’s most sought-after brands. Such as Allbirds, Samsung, Bose, MrBeast, and Amazon. His work has won every major international design award and can be found at the Museum of Modern Art, Apple Store, and Whole Foods, to name a few. Beau graduated with a degree in Industrial Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He also serves as Chief Design Officer at Pattern, where he uses an industry-first approach that harnesses the soul of design and the science of data analytics to create craveable brands that consumers love.
Nishma is a co-founder and Director at Ticket Design, a design and innovation consulting firm involved in product, packaging and UX design. Under her leadership Ticket Design has established itself as a respected design consulting firm, with a wide variety of award winning products launched in the Indian as well as International markets. Some of the awards that Ticket Design has won under her vision are Red Dot Product Design Award in 2013, CII award for UX design 2013 and Silver award at US Appliance Design.During her tenure at Ticket Design, she has been the force of converting ideas into reality. With a robust background in design and years of hands-on design realization she brings her extensive knowledge of product development to the projects. Her project management experience has helped her team to get to the root of a problem and look at meaningful creative solutions. Nishma has helped to create award winning solutions in the medical, packaging, consumer, appliances and telecommunication domain. She is an alumnus of NID (National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad), Asia's premier design school. Nishma, started her career as an industrial designer with Tata Johnson Controls in which she designed passenger car seating. Nishma went on to design several products for Bluestar, Whirlpool, Siemens, Honeywell as well as other companies.
Chuong Pham is the creative director and co-founder of Kaarem, a design and production studio based in Saigon and New York City. Prior to Kaarem, Chuong worked as a mechanical engineer. In 2013, he founded Kaarem with Kathy Minh Bach and launched a women’s line designed and produced entirely in their studio in Saigon. The studio focuses on blending contemporary designs with hand-crafted details.
A professional designer for almost 30 years, Michael co-founded Studio.Build in 2001. Beginning his career in 1990, he gained experience at various influential design studios in London, before joining the maverick graphics studio The Designers Republic in Sheffield, producing many works that have since earned a place in cultural history. Michael founded Studio.Build on one simple idea to do great work with great people- and that is at the core of the studios philosophy today. With a lifelong interest in typographic design, Michael is fascinated by the powerful part it can play at the heart of graphic communication, which is evident in the work of the studio. Michael has been on the judging panel of design awards worldwide, and has given talks and offered opinion on design at conferences across the globe. The studio has won several awards including from the prestigious D&AD global design awards.
Jared is the Global Head of Design for Colgate-Palmolive, and is responsible for driving the cultural transformation towards a design-integrated organization.
Before joining Colgate-Palmolive, Jared co-founded The Velo Group as Chief Creative Officer, was Chief Creative Officer at Fahrenheit 212, Design Director at Futurebrand and Designer at Arnell Group.
He believes Design is a change agent for social good and is proud to work with brands such as Colgate, used in more homes than any other brand, to create maximum positive impact. He is also a proud Kiwi.
Richard Roche (he/him) is the co-founder of The Office of Ordinary Things, a socially- and environmentally-conscious design studio based in San Francisco. Richard specializes in creative direction, web development, and copywriting. Most of his daily routine consists of hovering over elements he recently coded to make sure the animation is still rad, color coding his spreadsheets, and making eye-roll inducing dad jokes.
After working with Thompson Brand Partners in the United Kingdom, Marisa Sanchez-Dunning joined Guacamole Airplane to focus on business development and design direction. Combined with her 3 years of agency experience, she also brings 3 years of client side experience from her time working with craft breweries in the United Kingdom and the Bay Area.
Fumi Sasada was born in western Japan, but attended high school and university in Los Angeles, USA. After graduating from the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena as a graphic and packaging major in 1975, Sasada joined the headquarters of Landor Associates. He returned to Japan as creative director of their Tokyo office in 1983 and was responsible for major corporate identity projects including JAL, Mizuno, Tokyo Gas, NEC, the Nagano Olympics and many others. He was appointed Japan representative and deputy president of Landor Associates, Tokyo in 1992 and established Bravis International in June 1996. With an in-depth knowledge of branding and design issues based on 30 years experience as a designer and a design director in the US, Japan and Asia.
From 2006 to 2014, President of the Japan Package Design Association (JPDA). From 2015, member of the selection committee for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
Responsible for some of today’s most ever-present identities-like those for Instagram, Oculus, and Affirm - Mackey has spent his career helping brands of all sizes become iconic through idea-driven strategy, elegantly simple design, and a relentless pursuit of enduring visual principles. After nearly a decade running his own studios in San Francisco and Denver, he became a Principal at Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv—the design firm responsible for classic logos including NBC, National Geographic, and Chase Bank. He now runs his namesake studio based in Brooklyn, focused on creating impactful visual identities across an array of industries both locally and internationally.
Zack is a professional athlete turned designer based in Park City, Utah. He leads by example with a rigorous, hands-on approach to brand, product, and UX design.
Zack is currently leading a team of UX and product designers as a Sr. Design Manager at InVision. In years past, he worked alongside some of the best in the business at WeWork, Logitech and Ammunition.
Cristie Stevens is a Los Angeles based designer, art director and editor of Studio A/C; a curated online platform showcasing the world's most beautiful branding, print, and packaging design. Cristie also heads up Alternating Current; a design studio specializing in creating and elevating brands through strategically-led visual identity, packaging, and digital design.
Mr. Tago graduated from the Class-II Design Management program of Tokyo Zokei University.He was engaged in the design development of various home electrical appliances and information technology devices at Toshiba Design Center Corporation. Following a career at Toshiba, he served as design management director at REALFLEET Co., Ltd. Subsequently, he launched MTDO in 2008 to try and open up new areas up until now. He is currently engaged in design, direction and management throughout the entire process from concept creation to production in a wide range of industries.He is also the recipient of many awards: iF Product Design Award 2013 (GOLD), reddot Design Award Best of the Best 2013 and Design for Asia Award 2013 Grand Awardùjust to name a few.
