Dstone, a medical device for adjunctive therapy of gout, utilizes shock wave emission to slowly break down gout stones, thereby accelerating their dissolution and reducing the frequency of gout attacks.
Additionally, we will collaborate with hospitals to create an online medical platform that offers services such as online consultation and payment processes, thereby reducing the repetitive and cumbersome offline procedures, optimizing users' medical experiences, and increasing patient's willingness for follow-up visits.
We will provide services for interpreting medical examination reports and tools for recording and predicting uric acid levels. By examining the hospital-uploaded report interpretations and algorithmically predicting uric acid levels, patients can gain a general understanding of their own condition and changes, thus enhancing their awareness and concern for their condition.
Design Challenge And Opportunity
The number of gout sufferers is increasing, with a trend towards younger demographics. Gout attacks can range from debilitating pain, affecting daily life, to leaving individuals disabled. However, treating gout is a long and arduous process. Many patients struggle to adhere to treatment due to repetitive medical procedures and neglect of their condition, leading to recurring gout attacks. Through our research, we discovered a lack of available products specifically designed for gout treatment. Hence, we aim to address the needs of this population and strive to enhance their health and well-being.
Design Process
During our field investigations and interviews, we identified certain repetitive and time-consuming aspects within the hospital's medical process, significantly prolonging patient waiting times. Consequently, patients expressed a need to reduce follow-up visits and optimize the medical process. Additionally, several patients expressed a need for visualized data assistance to understand their condition better. On the medical professionals' side, doctors expressed interest in accessing patients' gout data for comparison and monitoring treatment adherence, particularly for severe cases.
Product Design
This is a medical device designed to assist in the pharmacological treatment of gout. Its principle involves accelerating the dissolution of gout stones through a stone-breaking mechanism, which can be utilized as a home treatment device. Inspired by the principles of pharmacological treatment of gout stones, we employ a shock wave emission device to slowly break down gout stones, accelerating their dissolution. Utilizing deep learning technology, we analyze imaging results and assist in targeting. In addition, inflatable cuffs on the device's sides provide foot stability during treatment to ensure safety and effectiveness.

To address the need for optimizing the medical process, we intend to collaborate with hospitals to develop an online medical platform. This platform will offer features such as online consultations, payment processing, and information retrieval for patients. By reducing unnecessary repetitive processes, we aim to decrease patient waiting times. We also provide tools for interpreting medical examination reports and predicting uric acid levels. By viewing hospital-uploaded report interpretations and algorithmic uric acid predictions, patients can gain a better understanding of their condition and enhance their awareness of their health status. Doctors can also access patient-uploaded treatment information through the app to monitor adherence and provide advisory follow-up suggestions.
