Da Vinci 5 is the most advanced and integrated minimally invasive surgical platform Intuitive has ever created. It was designed to transform surgery and enable better outcomes, increase efficiency, and bring actionable insights to help hospitals lower care costs.
We invested more than 10 years and countless research dollars into creating a multiport system that delivers dramatic technology innovations without sacrificing the da Vinci Xi's highly functional design, proven in millions of procedures worldwide.
Redesigned from the inside out, da Vinci 5 brings more than 150 design innovations and 10,000x the computing power1 to enable enhanced surgical senses, greater surgeon autonomy,2 and a more streamlined OR workflow, and cutting-edge data analytics.
Da Vinci 5's design and engineering enhancements, including new surgeon controllers and powerful vibration and tremor controls, make it the smoothest and most precise system Intuitive has developed to date. Da Vinci 5's future-ready platform delivers advanced capabilities today and offers abundant capacity to incorporate AI, machine learning, and ongoing enhancements.
Da Vinci 5 introduces Force Feedback technology, enhancing surgical senses to support better outcomes. This enables the system to measure, and surgeons to feel, subtle forces exerted on tissue during surgery. New instruments enable surgeons to sense the push and pull forces exerted on patient tissue. Force Feedback technology translates forces in three dimensions, from the instrument tip to the surgeon's hand controllers.
"Force Feedback is a first-of-its-kind technology and it's going to make a huge impact. In preclinical trials, we are seeing up to 43% less force on tissue.3 That translates to gentler surgery for patients." Myriam Curet, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Intuitive
Operational efficiency from surgeon autonomy and streamlined workflow: A key goal of da Vinci 5 was to help hospitals address staffing challenges while also extending da Vinci surgery beyond traditional OR settings and schedules. Many of da Vinci 5's innovations center on achieving those goals.
More surgeon autonomy: Da Vinci 5 connects all components needed for surgery and allows surgeons to manage components from the console's head-in menu, reducing reliance on care team expertise.5
Streamlined workflows: Simplified setup, enhanced guided tool change, task automation, and a universal user interface may be among the factors contributing to reduced procedure times6 with the potential to increase throughput.
Ease of use for care teams: The innovations that streamline workflows and increase surgeon autonomy may also make it easier for care teams to gain the skills needed to support da Vinci surgery.
Compatibility with da Vinci X/Xi instruments: Cross-compatibility with most da Vinci X/Xi instruments and accessories allows da Vinci 5 to blend into program workflows.
Smarter together—intelligently integrated hardware: Intelligent integration means more than including all components needed for surgery. It also means the components are interconnected for a streamlined workflow. For example, integration of the insufflator and generator enables automatic smoke evacuation when energy instruments are used. At a higher level, the da Vinci 5 knows what each system component and the surgeon are doing throughout a procedure, which makes it possible for the system to deliver objective insights that surgeons and educators can use to evaluate cases and focus training efforts.
Ergonomics: Da Vinci 5 introduces our most ergonomic, human-centered system design yet. For the surgeon, the immersive surgeon console offers even more comfort. Better ergonomics by design and through extended adjustments4 allows surgeons to find the right fit for their surgical viewing and personal comfort.
"The ability for me to move the headset exactly where I want it to be and in a variety of different positions is really going to help elongate my career and make surgery more comfortable." Bradley Needleman, Bariatric Surgeon, Director, Center for MIS
Da Vinci 5 is the most intelligent surgical system we've ever created. With 10,000x more computing power7 and new sensors, software, and advanced processors, da Vinci 5 collects, processes, and delivers more data for useable insights. But we're just getting started. Da Vinci 5's ample data plus abundant computing power will enable us to help you make the most of AI and machine learning.
Cutting-edge data analytics: Da Vinci 5's ability to process procedure data and share it with My Intuitive allows you to gain objective insights into personal and program performance.
Unprecedented insights into surgical performance: Case Insights uses a unique combination of da Vinci system data, kinematic movement data, and AI video analysis to extract objective insights from surgery and identify opportunities for surgeons to improve patient care.
Simplified video recording and real-time collaboration: Fully integrated with the system, Intuitive Hub enables virtual collaboration and instant replays during surgery. Hub also automates clinical video recording and bookmarking, enables image and audio capture, and facilitates media storing and sharing.
