Located in Taiwan, Daxi is a town rich in the cultural history of woodworking. The Unboxing Daxi - Daxi Woodcraft Exhibition showcases the cultural and ecological aspects of woodcraft in Daxi. We have designed the exhibition's identity and a series of accompanying visuals that encapsulate the essence of woodcraft.

These supplementary visuals represent various facets of Daxi in the form of traditional wooden toys and artefacts, including historical architecture, household goods, cultural celebrations, religious customs, and various local activities. Unlike static graphical presentations, we have engaged wood craftsmanship to create these visuals from woods. They are gathered in the entrance area of the exhibition as a main visual feature.

As visitors pass by, the wooden artworks on the wall come to life through kinetic displays, synchronized with real-time digital projections that bring out the significance and context of each wooden piece, as if the woodworks actively narrate the stories of Daxi to the audience.

The central visual concept of this exhibition revolves around breaking free from traditional static 2D graphic design. Given that the exhibition is centered around wood, the significance of material is paramount. Therefore, we endeavored to carve the visual imagery into genuine wooden textures, incorporating elements of traditional woodworking techniques to imbue these three-dimensional images with profound meaning. Furthermore, the dynamic graphic design seamlessly integrates digital and physical mechanisms, merging the two into a harmonious synergy that transcends the boundaries of conventional dynamic graphic design.
