Souper Connect is a modular human-shaped block that can't stand up by itself, reminding us to lean on each other. Its shape provides countless means of interconnection; the octagonal geometry of the arms and legs allows for rotated angles of joining, expanding the building possibilities. These blocks offer a minimal and identifiable form that inspires imaginative play and collaboration, lets you fidget and with enough pieces can bring out the building engineer in any of us. Souper Connect was designed in New York City by Peter Minsoub Sim and developed by Souper Studio. It was recognized by the 2023 Design Intelligence Awards and picked as a 'Project We Love' by Kickstarter.
Embracing the notion of collective strength and collaboration, designer Peter Minsoub Sim set out to create this block as a tangible representation of our interconnectedness and ability to achieve more together.
Souper Connect's shape provides countless means of connection; the limbs simply slot into the body as the octagonal geometry of the arms and legs allows for rotated angles of joining, expanding the building possibilities. Its carefully designed details create a satisfying fit. With them you can fidget, you can build, you can share. Souper Connect is for anyone to enjoy, whether you are 3 years old or 101. In addition to its original plastic form, Souper Connect also comes in a limited edition made of precision-milled aluminum for those in search of an object that feels special.
Conceived and developed by Peter Minsoub Sim, a multi-talented designer, Souper Connect projects his belief in the power of real objects and their ability to ground people to a tangible world. Through a series of meticulous iterations and many tests, he fine-tuned the design to offer maximum versatility. In Brooklyn, NY Sim did everything from early-stage sketches to fabricating and testing his own injection mold prototype.
Sim co-founded Souper Studio where Souper Connect was fully developed. The studio is born out of a collaborative desire to stay connected to the physical world through the objects we use every day. It helps unheard designers turn their delightful, evocative, and unique ideas into tangible products. The studio was founded by Andrew Longo, Blanca Codina, Peter Minsoub Sim, and Mara Zimmerman, four designers from all over the world who came together around this shared mission.
