AIRO is a multi-media live streaming system that is designed to improve live streaming experience for both streamers and their guests, additionally it is able to grow with the need of live streamers.
AIRO is the result of a 8-week strategic product design project in collaboration with Cisco. Utilizing the company's know-how in video conferencing area and hardware-software collaboration, AIRO has good potential in opening up a new Business to Consumer area for Cisco.
USERS & THEIR NEEDS
Live streamers
Live streamers are those who live stream content to others.
For them(especially novice streamers), setting-up a lot of streaming devices is effort-taking: not only cable management is tricky, but it's also hard to make devices from different brands work together seamlessly. Besides, when setting up a physical streaming, certain camera perspectives are quite hard to achieve, eg. top-down shots usually need special-made tripods and rails to serve as extra supports.
Novice streamers don't have much professional knowledge and have less ideas on how to choose & connect different devices and streaming systems, so another need from them is to select the most suitable streaming devices and platforms.
Guests
Guests are those who take part in a live streaming. Sometimes guests are only able to receive limited content and are not able to choose the content that they are interested, also streamers is sometimes not aware of the need of their guests due to the limited options of streaming modes - Therefore a need from them is to have more control over the streaming content.
Another needs from guests are a better media quality and a direct eye contact. The current media quality provided by streamers is not always satisfying, though it could be improved with several minor adjustments. Besides, the eye contact level between streamers and guests is not ideal, and a constant eye contact will greatly improve streaming experience.
When & where to use?
The system adapts to different streaming scenarios from desk-based activities like sketching, cooking and model-making, to activities that are not limited on a desk, eg. music playing and yoga education.
Though the system is designed for live-streaming use, it could for sure be used under wider contexts, eg. business conferencing and pure video/audio recording.
What're in the system?
AIRO is composed of a set of hardware devices, Webex streaming software and a co-service network that brings live streamers, their guests, Cisco and its collaborator platforms together.
A system that is easy to set up
Compared with other streaming kits, AIRO managed to achieve a small and portable housing(23cm in full length when folded) with highly compact functional modules. With a special supporting structure, multiple configurations could be achieved for different media-capturing perspectives under different desktop streaming senarios(eg. cooking, sketching, model making), and other non-desktop scenarios(eg. yoga, music playing) with the help of a tripod mounter.
Wireless connection is achieved with a special atenna connection under Wifi environment, reducing the hassle of cable management.
Setting up a live streaming has never been so easy with AIRO.
A system that improves interaction
Utilizing smart technologies, eg. machine learning eye tracking, constant eye contact during streaming could be achieved between streamers and guests.
Streamers can schedule/cancel meeting and connect to hardware with ease in the Webex streaming app. Besides, streamers are able to pre-adjust the captured media before streaming to provide a better image quality for guests.
During streaming, multiple UI interfaces are provided for both streamers and their guests to choose from to help them get a better control over the streaming content.
Finally, taking care of devices and streaming quality is at the back of mind. Streamers and their guests could both enjoy immersive streaming experiences.
A system that grows up with you
Cisco AIRO is designed to be an upgradable streaming system that grows up with streamers. Novice streamers start with purchasing a main kit, then gradually add on modules to their streaming gears as they become more experienced. After connecting modules within the Webex streaming app, all AIRO devices will be able to work together seamlessly.
No need to spend extra time in deciding what to buy - as an ideal option, AIRO is there all the time, and is always ready to grow up with you.
