Every year, countless plastic toothbrushes end up in landfills and oceans. Our culture is obsessed with cleanliness, but we are dirtying our planet. Components of Osome products are made primarily from reclaimed ocean plastic, designed for reuse and recyclability.
We developed Osome with consideration of the environment, oral health, and a fun user experience. After reviewing the oral hygiene market and the life cycle of oral care products, we designed our product to accommodate consumer behavior change, while engaging community connections through recycling and education. Osome plans to partner with environmental organizations to incentivize recycling and ocean cleanup through our specially designed consumer network.
The Osome kit helps good habits develop all in one place. The Osome product set contains a modular toothbrush, floss heads, toothpaste with a patterned applicator, and "Ostime," our signature combination timer and toothpaste squeezer.
The Osome toothbrush allows creative combinations of handle units and brush heads. Osome toothpaste tubes have recyclable aluminum tubes, and the differently patterned nozzles are designed to be both long-lasting and collectible.
Last but not least, Ostime users will be able to squeeze out every last drop of toothpaste, and the two-minute timer keeps you brushing. Osome minimizes plastic waste compared to standard manual toothbrushes and makes brushing fun.
We aim for the Osome ecosystem to accommodate recycling, consumer behavior change, educational value, and community connections. Osome prioritizes social and ecological components across all phases of production.
To minimize the environmental impact of shipping, Osome products will be recycled, manufactured, and packaged all in one place. We have plans for encouraging consumers to return used parts for refurbishment and reuse. We will also partner with environmental organizations to promote recycling and ocean cleanup.
In our first phase of development, we plan to partner with Heal The Bay, an organization that hosts beach plastic collecting events. Collected plastic will be recycled and consumers who participate can be rewarded for these activities. This phase will build our first wave of products with the aim to expand globally.
Osome plans to collaborate with Parley, which will provide recycled plastic for our factories in Mexico. New products will be distributed first to the US and refurbished kits will support children in underdeveloped areas at a lower price.
Components such as toothpaste caps and handle units can be collected for recycling and redistribution. They can be reclaimed using in-store recycling services, and children can also bring expired parts to their schools.
Osome will incentivize schools to participate in our program through donations to their district STEAM programs.
Overall, Osome minimizes plastic waste and makes brushing fun. With our production model, Osome products could promote a healthy future in a way that realistically challenges competitors.
