Even Adaptive Lingerie

Interwoven Design worked with Even Adaptive to develop innovative adaptive lingerie for all people living with and without disabilities and mobility impairments to empower women to feel sexy, strong, and independent. EA's lingerie line consists of adaptive undergarments with contemporary silhouettes that can be put on with the use of a single hand. Interwoven worked to develop the new brands strategy, identity and product offering.

The design process started with developing a brand strategy and brand identity and included the design of a patent-pending proprietary magnet-clasp and design of the lingerie garments. The new fastening clasp replaces and improves the user experience of the market-standard back hook closure system of most bras and panties on the market. The new fingerloop and clasp closure experience combined with the modern, comfortable, and colorful designs make Even Adaptive lingerie truly inclusive, innovative, and one-of-a-kind.

The Even Adaptive line includes two different bra styles - one all mesh and the other a combination of mesh and jersey and 2 panty styles. Each style comes in 3 different colors; Peach Sand, Glacial Blue, and Black. The cotton lycra bra and the adaptive thong are made with a buttery soft organic jersey fabric that has plenty of stretch which is perfect for everyday comfort. The mesh bra and the thong have a silky smooth hand feel. They are slightly more playful and revealing while still upholding the comfort, support, and ease of use on a daily basis. The cotton lycra bra, the adaptive thong, and the mesh bra all feature the unique magnetic clasp and finger loop mechanism.

Even Adaptive is an innovative adaptive lingerie company for all people living with and without disabilities and mobility impairments. They exist to empower customers and make them feel independent, strong, and sexy. Interwoven Design partnered with Even Adaptive founder, Marianne Weber to achieve her dream to create a brand, and product with a unique bra clasp that can be easily put on with one hand. Customers will fall in love with their new lingerie the minute they try it on and either partner will love it when they take it off.

Clasp Rendering The clasp design consists of the same part that nest on top of one another. The part has a hook on one side and a cavity for the corresponding hook to latch onto on the other side. This way the same part can be flipped and used instead of a male-female closure. Even Adaptive and Interwoven Design Group

All women deserve to have underwear that empowers them, but typically the lingerie market has forgotten women with disabilities. The adaptive lingerie market is very underserved with very few products that are both functional and sexy for women with limited upper arm mobility or amputations. Even Adaptive lingerie project's mission is to empower all women to live their dreams by meeting every woman's most basic needs; comfortable, sexy, and adaptive lingerie. With confidence and sexiness as pillars of the brand's design ethos, Interwoven Design working with Evenadaptive, focused on creating a closure that is easy to put on and take off, is secure and strong and sleek enough to let the design shine. The bras and the panties are specifically designed to fit all female bodies during any and every phase of life. With Even Adaptive lingerie products, women feel independent, strong, and sexy.

To establish the brand's identity (values, beliefs, and visual archetypes) and the development of the visual strategy, Interwoven Design pinpointed core elements of the brand universe into "Visual and Verbal Explorations." These tools were used to shape the brand by gaining client feedback to refine into deliverable brand assets. Once a creative territory was determined, Interwoven explored two distinct brand directions of visual look and feel, typography, color palette, and copy/tone. The team created the Even Adaptive logo and tagline to apply to the branding on the product, website, hang tags, social media and other marketing material. The Interwoven Design and Even Adaptive teams collectively created a direction for the website, social media content, and photography. This direction was translated into a photoshoot for the brand launch. Lifestyle scenes were set up and directed to convey the brand strategy and identity created by Interwoven in collaboration with the Even Adaptive marketing team. The models and team behind the camera represent the inclusivity and diversity that Even Adaptive and Interwoven stands for.

Once the brand strategy was determined, the Interwoven Design team researched and categorized adaptive and non-adaptive undergarments on the market according to their silhouettes, while paying close attention to their construction, closure mechanisms/methods, color selection, fabric, and fit. The landscape survey showcased that assistive, functional, and truly elegant lingerie options are slim to none for women with disabilities. With the findings in mind, interwoven developed concepts through an iterative process using research in retail locations, fashion forecasting, color reports for intimates, and feedback from women with disabilities. Soft cup bra prototypes and panties in both cotton lycra and mesh were tested on fit models through multiple sessions to perfect the fit, support, style, and comfort of the undergarments. The straps are designed to be fastened on the front rather than the back, unlike a non-adaptive bra, for ease of use and accessibility.

Interwoven's industrial design team focused on the magnetized clasp development while the garment design and prototyping were underway with the apparel design specialists. This enabled both teams to work simultaneously to perfect the fit of the lingerie, as well as the clasp's functionality. Clasps with different engagement styles in different sizes were 3D printed and embedded with magnets for in-house testing. The findings helped assess the clasp's usability, magnetic strength, and durability. Through the process, the clasp shrunk significantly to become as low profile as possible to ensure comfort against the skin. Upon initial testing, single hand operation and user interaction became the primary focus. As a result, the finger loops were developed to assist the single hand operation.

The garment, finger loops, and the magnetic clasp work in tandem to enable users to put on their bra with the use of a single hand. Once the bra is on, the user can place their thumb in one finger loop, reach across the body, secure the other loop with another finger and pull the two ends of the placket towards each other to engage the magnetic clasp. The bra can be undone by pinching the clasp vertically or using the finger loops to apply pressure inwards, to disengage the closure.

Interwoven's industrial designers and technical designers collaborated to refine the garment construction and clasp application. Ensuring the connection method of the hard and soft goods was essential in producing a low cost, manufacturable product. The team used an iterative process that included 3D printing and vacuum cast molding to produce looks-like and works-like prototypes in all of the colorways. In the final stages, technical documents were created to launch the manufacturing of both the hardware and the garments. From start to finish Even Adaptives collaboration with Interwoven Design led to the launch of a product for all people living with and without disabilities and mobility impairments.
