BLK2GO PULSE

The Leica BLK2GO PULSE is the first of its kind handheld laser scanner that allows users to mount their smartphone on the scanner, open the dedicated app, and press a single button to capture indoor environments from their point of view. While the user is scanning, they are presented with a real-time data stream and can instantly capture and share complete colorized point clouds in the field.

The product’s PULSE technology is a fusion of Hexagon’s GrandSLAM technology and dual Time-of-Flight (ToF) LiDAR sensors from Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation (Sony) to create the world’s first dual ToF laser scanner.

As a dual ToF first-person laser scanner, the BLK2GO PULSE bridges a gap in reality capture – the ability to capture only what you need, from your point of view, in indoor environments. The product’s intuitive guidance and workflow makes it easy for anyone to master without requiring scanning experience. The BLK2GO PULSE, together with the BLK Live app, is a complete reality capture solution that provides user guidance from different real-time view states, along with real-time data streaming, mobile data storage, and the ability to deliver colorized point clouds to the user’s smartphone that don’t require require post-processing.In total, the BLK2GO PULSE offers 8 vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays, each with 970 lasers, that invisibly illuminate the entire field-of-view of approximately 210° x 85° multiple times per second. These sensors, combined with GrandSLAM’s RGB cameras is how the product is able to deliver a colorized point cloud instantly in the field. The GrandSLAM feature also allows the scanner to localize itself, knowing what it has already scanned, and combining the scans to create an accurate data set.

Hexagon’s partnership with Sony further delivers a brand-new scanning technology to the market in the BLK2GO PULSE. The collaboration between the companies results in a seamless data capture and processing workflow that reduces the time between capturing a space and delivering results. Combining Sony’s advanced processing software library with Hexagon’s reality capture capabilities provides faster feedback in-field and offers complete data capture competencies. Additionally, the BLK2GO PULSE maximizes the capabilities of using a smartphone for reality capture through the intuitive BLK Live app for users at all skill levels.
