Village rethinks the airplane cabin as a close-knit community in the sky.
Village is a collection of modular furniture and monuments for the airplane cabin. The elements come together to construct a 'village' in the sky. Each element is designed to be customized and pliable, allowing airlines to create spaces that are smaller and larger, private and open, depending on the user groups and the size of the aircraft.
The result is a pliable and transformative space that adapts to the varying users/user groups. There are specially designed experiences for individual users, small groups, bleisure travelers, and families as wells s the option for each to have private or shared experiences.

The CMF for this project is forward thinking, roughly 20 years out, for aviation spaces. I combined contemporary aviation certified materials like (lightweight & fireproof) Nomex Honeycomb and (fireproof & noise dampening) Nomex wool with new materials to aviation like 3d knitted mesh and anti-bacterial Sharklet surfaces. This combination of functional aviation materials and advanced future materials as well as using brighter, natural colors for the furniture introduce a new softer and more sensorial atmosphere to the airplane cabin space.
This was a personal project I worked on during my internship at Teague's revered aviation design studio up in Everett, Washington. The original design consultancy is known for their intimate relationship with Boeing and the experience I had there inspired me to rethink what air travel could be with the right questions and research.
