Shear Revival is a noble goods & habits company – mindfully crafted in small batches, their products are designed for home & personal care for everyday life, from start to finish. Dedicated to creating a product that works with ingredients you can pronounce, their goal is to make real, honest plant-based products for everyone. Because your body deserves better, no matter who you are. Together, we honed in on their brand identity & packaging to re-examine how the brand saw itself growing for the future and not completed a re-brand and identity project (including everything from a responsive logotype system to messaging, icon creation, illustrations, patterns, and more) but we redesigned all 25 products.
Same Honest Products, All New Look. Shear Revival was looking to elevate their brand. After 8 years, as they grew, they needed a brand that distinguished them as innovators, yet retained their inherit brand culture and personality. Together, we redefined what Shear Revival is, and put more focus on exposing customers to the benefits that their products have to offer while still retaining the references to pop culture that their customers so deeply love (just making them a little more subtle along the way).
Starting off as a re-brand, we worked together with Shear Revival to elevate their branding as a whole. Initially starting with an exercise to uncover their core brand drivers, rewrite their positioning and statements, as well as a brand story — we then utilized that to leverage the design. What was once a clean out of the box wordmark became custom-made typography that is bold and clean yet friendly and timeless. From there we defined the rest of the brand identity components, while also seeing the need for a brand pattern, iconography, and an illustrative style. We used these elements to craft visual ways of depicting their process, identify important information on their labels, and create an asset library for their packaging, stickers, and merchandise.
Taking a step away from the previous product labels' icon-focused language, we wanted to pay homage to the inspiration behind every product (that was born out of pop culture horror/thriller movie references). In doing so, we found that a more geometric approach layered with texture and easter egg references created universal eye-catching labels that separated Shear Revival from their competitors while achieving a higher-end aesthetic by utilizing metallic hits on each label. This was vital to ensuring that the brand spoke to all colors, all genders, & ethnicities to empower them to look good & live well in all aspects of their lives. At the root of it all, strived to find the balance between cleanliness and character.
