Bloom leverages the power of technology and experience design to evolve how consumers shop for menstruation products by increasing their knowledge, accessibility, and connection in support of greater equity and justice. Bloom is a venture that will act as a bridge and center of allyship between partners, knowledge experts, providers, tech, and influencers to bring accessibility and break stigmas for the girls and menstruators of our world. Bloom is solving for the things that no one talks about. It has been a surprise how largely stigmatized and invisibilized menstruation as a topic is in our current society, which makes it hard to be called ''a problem worth solving for." While working on this initiative, I've had to open consciousness and explain to different audiences why menstruation has an impact on all of us, not just women/menstruators. I found several problems to solve around menstruation equity, that require a full connection of actors working together. Bloom is just the beginning of a journey I'm willing to adopt as my mission and stand as a designer.
Technology & Customization algorithm: Within the Bloom app, users will be able to create a profile and access recommendations on what products suit their needs and body best instead of being overwhelmed with the complex packaging and vast offering of alternatives in the store.
Convenience and Psychological Safety: Within the Bloom app, users will be able to preselect products and pick up (same day) on locally set up vending machines with a scan code which will address the emotionally charged journey (feeling shame) of users deciding and shopping in store.
Price & Quality: Products sold through the Bloom app will have a partner guarantee with lower costs to consumers to increase period equity.
Period equity (and inclusion): Bloom will consider the needs of ''all menstruators'' by aiming to develop a brand and shopping experience that feels as neutral as buying hand soap.
Period Justice: Within the Bloom app, users have the possibility of donating in support of period justice (their money will go into setting up vending machines in lower income communities and providing free products for other menstruators). Bloom will allow users to ask for help in purchasing period products in case you don't have access to money. Bloom will allow users to help other menstruators when they need it by pitching in for them in case of emergency. Bloom will provide access to simplified and trusted learning resources about feminine hygiene, sexuality, menstruation etc.
