ALICE CHUNG is founding partner at Omnivore. She has collaborated with clients such as Princeton University School of Architecture, Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia, Luhring Augustine Gallery, University Settlement, and artist Polly Apfelbaum on endeavors ranging from identity systems to websites and publications. She studied at Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University where she received a B.A. in biology and a M.P.H. in health and social behavior. Her graduate work led her to shift her focus to design studies at the Rhode Island School of Design. She is Senior Critic in Graphic Design at Yale University School of Art.
Natalie Candrian is a Swiss designer, living in Zurich, Switzerland and is currently creative design director at fitness brand OMORPHO and footwear brand SAYSH. Her career has been focused on the world of sport, creating footwear, apparel and accessories for the world’s largest brands and iconic athletes.
Candrian worked with icon Allyson Felix to design and develop the SayshOne, followed closely by SayshSpike, a bespoke track spike for Felix, worn during Tokyo 2021 Olympics where she earned two medals becoming the most decorated female track & field athlete in history. Candrian began her career at Adidas where she designed the signature TMAC 1, 2 and 3 basketball sneaker for icon Tracy McGrady. His signature TMAC 1, 2 and 3 are still being reproduced today having sold with more 1.5 million units.
At Nike she joined the exclusive Explore design group reporting directly to the President, designing innovative concepts relating to consumer and product experiences. Working closely with athletes she changed the game of tennis with the release of Maria Sharapova’s “little black dress”. Sharapova won the US Open title that year.
Natalie is named FastCompany’s 100 Most Creative People in Business in 2022.
Rob started out in California working on Porsche and BMW race cars. Not far away, Dr. Paul MacCready built the Gossamer Condor, a pedal powered aircraft. Rob become fascinated with the technology and built a 60 mph pedal powered trike. Highway speeds at fractional horsepower became an obsession. Rob became VP of the International Human Powered Vehicle Association and directed the first solar car race in the US. With support from GE and DuPont to develop composite and thermoforming technologies, Rob built or contributed to numerous innovative vehicles. He also served as an advisor to Gov. Jerry Brown, a Creative Director and a documentary producer. He worked with Anita Roddick, CEO of The Body Shop launching environmental and human rights campaigns. After consulting on Bike Sharing technology for NYC, it became apparent there was now a viable market for an ultra-efficient vehicle that was between a bicycle and a car.
Executive Creative Director by day and professional illustrator by night, Norio brings 30 years of design experience to every program he directs at PA Consulting (formerly Astro Studios). Since studying at the Institute of Design, IIT in Chicago, he has collaborated with diverse clients such as Microsoft, Nike, HP, Disney, Samsung, Nissan and Sony, among many others. His passion for emerging technologies has him constantly looking towards the future while his keen awareness of user needs and experiences keeps him focused on the present.
Evelio Mattos is a Creative Director of packaging and the host of Package Design Unboxd, he also hosts the Packaging Podcast, and is the Former Editor in Chief of The Dieline packaging blog. Evelio was named “One of the 200 Best Packaging Designers” by Lurzer’s Archive, and Graphic Design USA’s “People toWatch” his most recent work for Walpole UK in partnership with James Cropper and Intl. Direct Packaging was documented to illuminate his thesis that sustainable packaging can be fashion forward and not granola. Clients include Sonos, Michael Kors, Birkenstock, and start-ups like United Sodas of America.
Derrick Lin founded Packaging of the World in 2008 and has led the website to become one of the most prominent packaging design portals in the world. He is also the co-founder and Art Director of Mojo Red, a boutique creative company in Singapore.
Packaging of the World has grown to become the daily inspiration website for designers from all around the world by publishing some of the most interesting and creative projects from large global agencies to students. The audience includes packaging designers, graphic designers, advertising agencies, students, manufacturers and suppliers, garnering over a million impressions every month. Through the website’s business directory, agencies and suppliers can now easily link up and create business opportunities.
Today, Derrick Lin is always thinking of new innovative ideas to improve the packaging community as a whole. He is obsessed with, and passionate about, great packaging design.
Carl Bass serves on the boards of Autodesk, Built Robotics, Formlabs, Planet, Zendesk and Zoox and serves as a special adviser to the CEO of Alphabet. During his 24 year tenure at Autodesk, he held a series of executive positions including president and chief executive officer, chief technology officer and chief operating officer. Bass co-founded Ithaca Software, which was acquired by Autodesk in 1993. Bass also serves on the boards of directors of Zendesk Inc. and Planet; on the board of trustees of the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Art Center College of Design, and California College of the Arts; and on the advisory boards of Cornell Computing and Information Science, UC Berkeley School of Information, and UC Berkeley College of Engineering.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Cornell University. Bass spends his time exploring the intersection of art, robotics and machine learning
Dylan Buffington is an experienced creative professional in design and marketing with over a decade of industry experience. He started his career as a freelance designer, working with clients from various industries to develop branding, marketing collateral, and industrial design. Later, he moved to a full-time role as a Lead Creative at Specialized Bicycles, where he honed his skills in visual communication and brand strategy. Dylan has been serving as Creative Director for various companies, focusing on creative leadership and management, developing high-performing projects from concept to completion, and creating innovative marketing campaigns that drive business growth.
Currently, Dylan is the US Marketing Manager at Pas Normal Studios, a leading Danish cycling apparel brand. He is responsible for developing brand, retail, and activation strategies. Dylan's expertise in design and marketing, combined with his passion for the industry, has allowed him to drive business success and push the boundaries of what is possible. He is a skilled communicator and collaborator with a deep understanding of the power of design to connect with audiences and drive business growth.
Christel is currently a Senior Sports Apparel Designer at Pas Normal Studios in Copenhagen. responsible for the womenswear line. She received her MS in Sports Product Design from University of Oregon (2019), and previously came from a fashion background with a MA in Fashion Design from Designskolen Kolding (2009) and trained at the French fashion houses Chloé and Christian Dior Couture in Paris. She has worked in various creative fields from Apparel Designer, Costume Designer and Product Designer. She is passionate about women's sports apparel and strives to innovate within the space. She is also a ceramist, and her work has received recognition throughout Scandinavia and been published in lifestyle magazines: RUM International, ELLE Decoration, Space Magazine, Politiken, and Cover Magazine. Her work has also been profiled by Vitra and the Centre George Pompidou at Interieur Design Competition and repeatedly funded by the Danish Arts Foundation.
Paul Cocksedge studied under Ron Arad during his MA in Product Design at the Royal College of Art, and was introduced to Issey Miyake and Ingo Maurer, both of whom staged early exhibitions of his work. Maurer went so far as to give Paul a show within his own show at Milan Design Week 2003, introducing his lights 'Styrene', 'NeON' and an early work that was to be developed into 'Life 01' with FLOS. Paul has since gone on to become one of Britain's leading designers, founding Paul Cocksedge Studio with business partner Joana Pinho in 2004. The Studio's catalogue includes an imaginative range of design products, architectural projects, sculptures and lighting, all infused with the sense of simplicity, joy and wonder that has come to characterise Paul Cocksedge's work.
Thomas O'Connor is an awarded Industrial Design consultant who thrives at the intersection of business, technology and user-centered design. He began consulting for PDT in 2010 where he's led multi-disciplinary teams ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. PDT is a Chicago based product development consultancy specializing in fast moving, regulated and complex industries ranging from medical devices, aerospace, consumer electronics, laboratory equipment and tactical communication devices.
Thomas has consulted for clients including AbbVie, Hospira, Smiths Medical, Harris, Thermofisher, Siemens, Bosch, 3M, Weber, McDonalds and Intel.
Most recently Thomas spent 4 months working in Shanghai as a consultant for Sinowell. Thomas led research and product development to help bring innovation to the commercial horticulture and hydroponics industry. Sinowell is a manufacturer and wholesaler of horticulture and hydroponics equipment.
Thomas is active in the Chicago start-up community, serves as a judge in Chicago's Tech Week Launch Competition and is an Industrial Design mentor at University of Illinois at Chicago.
Thomas grew up in the Motor City and received his BFA in Industrial Design from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
Luke Pearson is an industrial designer and founding partner (with Tom Lloyd) of the London design studio PearsonLloyd. The studio works in environments that have demanding spatial, ergonomic and social needs, such as healthcare, aviation, workplace and cities. Recent projects include work for Joseph Joseph, Department of Health, Lufthansa, City of Bath, Intercontinental Hotels, Bene, and Poltrona Frau. The studio believes in the power of design to transform the way in which people use and experience public spaces and services, and to deliver products that are both efficient and beautiful. Luke was awarded the distinction of Royal Designer for Industry by The Royal Society of Arts in 2008, and in 2012 Luke and Tom were named in the top 50 designers 'Shaping the Future' by Fast-Co Magazine in New York. Luke trained in Industrial Design at Central St Martins, (BA Hons 1991) before completing a Master's Degree MA (RCA) in Furniture Design at the Royal College of Art in 1993. He worked with Ross Lovegrove in London before joining Tom to found PearsonLloyd in 1997.
Eddie Opara was born in London in 1972. He studied graphic design at the London College of Printing and Yale University. He began his career at ATG and Imaginary Forces and worked as senior designer-art director at 2×4 before establishing his own studio, The Map Office. He joined Pentagram’s New York office as partner in 2010. His projects have included the design of brand identity, publications, packaging, environments, exhibitions, interactive installations, websites, user interfaces and software, with many of his projects ranging across multiple media and clients including; lululemon, Samsung, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, Nike, Grace Farms, the Menil Foundation, the Corcoran Group, Morgan Stanley, New York University, SHoP Architects, buroOS, Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM), David Adjaye Associates and Princeton Architectural Press. His work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art and has appeared in publications such as Wired, Fast Company, Creative Review, Archis, Surface and Graphis. Opara is also a senior critic at the Yale University School of Art and has recently authored a book, Color Works, published by Rockport. He was named one of Adweek Creative 100 in 2018, one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business in 2012 and 2014, and was featured in Ebony Magazine’s Power 100 list.
