George Sheldrake is a service and experience designer with over 15 years in the industry, working with clients in the UK, US, Europe and Australia. She has worked across the breadth of the design industry, from magazines and branding through to product and service transformation.
She believes in delivering design systems at the highest standard, from working with 90’s graphic designer Neville Brody to set up fashion magazines and culture brands, to creating the original BBC digital system GEL that is still in use today.
Her service design experience ranges from startup products like BBC Global iPlayer to an ecosystem fitness product for Nike, to transforming service approach in UK government for GDS and Ministry of Justice.
George is dedicated to creating products and services designed for the people that use them and the needs of the organizations around them. She is currently working with the HM Land Registry to support digital transformation and service change.
She is passionate about bringing together the breadth of her experience to design systems and services to help organizations change, both ‘what they do’ and ‘how they do it’.
Chris Lezama is an experience researcher and former non-profit administrator with a deep interest/background in design research and social impact strategies.
Joe Gebbia is a designer and entrepreneur, and is the co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Airbnb. In 2009, Gebbia was listed in BusinessWeek’s Top 20 Best Young Tech Entrepreneurs. In 2010, he was named in Inc. Magazine’s Thirty under Thirty, and 2013, he was named in Fortune Magazine’s Forty-under-Forty.
As Chief Product Officer, Gebbia oversees various teams to create a simple and easy Airbnb experience for all. The results are a product that considers the user’s experience from the moment of online contact to the end of their physical stay in Airbnb listings around the world. Under his leadership, Airbnb is now at the forefront of the emerging discipline of service design, a practice that improves the quality of interactions between service providers and their customers.
Gebbia's lifelong appreciation for art and design led him to the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he now sits on the Board of Trustees. There, he honed his skills while obtaining degrees in product design and graphic design. While studying in the Northeast, Gebbia complimented his creative pursuits and studies at RISD with business coursework at Brown University and MIT. Influenced by the work of Jean Prouve, Charles and Ray Eames, and the Bauhaus movement, Gebbia has long been immersed in the art of designing for the human experience.
After moving to San Francisco, Gebbia worked as a designer for Chronicle Books where he experienced first-hand how a design-led business worked, department by department. The culmination of these ideas and experiences came to fruition in 2008, when he co-founded Airbnb with Brian Chesky and Nathan Blecharczyk. What began in an apartment in San Francisco during an IDSA conference has spread to 34,000 cities in over 192 countries.
David McKendrick is an British art director and graphic designer. In 2014 he founded B.A.M. with business partner and fellow art director Lee Belcher. B.A.M. is a london based creative agency specialising in art direction, design, publishing and branding.
Formerly creative director at British Esquire. Mckendrick graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2000 and began his career as a Designer at Graphic Thought Facility, one of the most innovative design companies in London. The group produced work for The Tate Gallery, Booth-Clibborn Editions, the Design Museum, the V&A and Habitat, among others.
Previously, McKendrick worked as Art Editor of the Bespoke department at Wallpaper* magazine and as a Senior Designer at the fashionable design group, North.
In 2009 McKendrick was named BSME (British Society of Magazine Editors) Art Director of the Year. In 2008 he was also named PPA (Periodical Publishers Association) Designer of the Year. In 2007 he won Best Magazine Design at the MD&JA (Magazine Design & Journalism Awards)n for Esquire's relaunch.
In November 2015 he was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Design at Southampton Solent University. McKendrick also is a visiting lecturer and guest tutor at, Glasgow School of Art, Bath School of Art and Design, Southampton Solent University and most recenly Nottingham Trent University.
Natasha specializes in human-centered design research and strategy. She is passionate about creating services, experiences, environments, and products that help people live better, healthier, and more fulfilled lives in a rapidly changing world.
In 2017, Natasha founded the design and innovation strategy consultancy Blumline, where she and her teams blend creative and scientific research methodologies to catalyze radical and compassionate innovation. Blumline's goal is to shift perspectives and behaviors around ambiguous landscapes like the future of health and wellness, the age of autonomy, and mindfulness in the digital age.
Natasha's service design experience rests at the intersection of mobility, wellness, health, hospitality, and retail for clients including Postmates, Volkswagen, Livongo, Singapore Airlines, Lincoln, and emerging brands in the boutique hotel industry.
Bo is a product leader, writer, and angel investor. She is currently director of product at Bravely, building a human-centric and behavioral-driven platform that helps people find meaning in their professional lives. At Tumblr she redesigned the core creative tools, and at Facebook launched Facebook Notes and Instagram monetization tools. She has helped organizations scale from series A to IPO at Sunrun and Opower. She writes and speaks about product management, liberal arts thinking, and diversity and inclusion. Her work has been published in the Atlantic, New York Times, and Fast Company. She is passionate about leveraging her product background to help founders as an investor and product advisor. She tweets at @bosefina and writes on Medium.
Cathy founded CBi China Bridge in 2003, the first insight-based innovation consulting firm in China. Most recently, she co-founded Successful Design, a social enterprise aiming to amplifying the value of design.
Having broad influence both socially and on the global design industry, Cathy is frequently invited to conferences in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. She enjoys adventures; from crossing the Gobi desert in Dunhuang to bungee jumping in New Zealand. Her continued dedication to challenging the limits fuels her creativity for both business and design.
Michael Correy is an Associate Director, Creative Strategy at Code and Theory where he applies human centered research and design methodologies to uncover challenges and create thoughtful, engaging experiences.
In a previous life, Michael was a Principal Designer at Chicago based design agency IA Collaborative.
Michael originally hails from Indianapolis but currently lives in Brooklyn. He truly is a believer that immersive and empathetic research is vital to strategic, equitable and impactful design solutions. If you happen to ever encounter him in the flesh, start the conversation off with the Muppets, basketball, or 90s R&B music.
Chiara has been working as a product manager for the past 5 years but she’s a service designer by training. She currently leads two teams at Workplace by Facebook (Facebook’s internal communication platform for companies). Like most PMs she has quite a diverse background: before Facebook she was a service design consultant, a pricing marketeer and a tutor at the University of Bologna (Engineering). She also designs and produces her own clothes in her spare time.
Chiara holds a BA in Communication Design and a MSc in Product Service System Design both from Politecnico di Milano. She’s fluent in Italian, English and Spanish.
After earning her Bachelors in Graphic Design from North Carolina State University, Kirsten started her career as an Experience Designer at Second Story Interactive Studios where she did work for cultural clients including the World of Coca-Cola, the College Football Hall of Fame, and the National Archives. She then moved in-house to the Art Institute of Chicago as one of the founding members of the Experience Design studio, initially recruited to lead the strategy and discovery work for the website redesign. Kirsten eventually became Creative Director, Visual Design where she led all visual design and design strategy work in the digital, print, brand, and environmental workstreams. After six years at the museum, she joined Fjord's midwest team to expand her service design capabilities. Outside of work, Kirsten is passionate about her art practice, rockhounding, birding, and cultivating a native prairie landscape in her backyard.
As Principal Director, Markos leads the Design Research Practice at frog San Francisco. His expertise lies in understanding people – their behaviors, needs, aspirations and interactions – and translating insights into a foundation to build strategy, products and services experiences for global markets.
Markos has over 15 years of experience in running design programs across a range of sectors, for clients such as Audi, BMW, Procter and Gamble, Coca-Cola and LEGO and launching new offerings. He has a strong focus on the mobility sector, having helped clients create new car platforms and build sustainable mobility services in China. Prior to frog, he worked at Designit, where he held the role of Global Research Lead and ran the Service Design practice.
Markos has a background in Social Sciences and Business and hold Masters degrees from the University of Oxford and the University of Leeds as well as Bachelor’s degree from the University of Aberdeen in the UK.
Lingjing is an experienced design leader and specialist for complex service redesign, systematic change, digital transformation and innovation. For 8 years, Lingjing has been working on delivering services, award-winning digital products and positive organisational and social outcomes in different sectors for clients across England, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
She is passionate about bringing clarity to systemic problems and supporting teams to be more creative. Most recently she has been working for the UK Government, Mayor’s office, British Film Institute and many Local Authorities across the UK to tackle complex social problems and improving public services.
Lingjing is a lead service designer at FutureGov, a digital and design company specialising in designing better public services. In the past ten years, FutureGov has helped more than a hundred local and national authorities across four continents think differently about public services.
Lauren is a European designer and entrepreneur from Scotland. She lives in London and spends her time as Head of Design at Good Lab and founder of #upfront. She makes, thinks, writes and speaks about confidence, design, social and change. She co-founded Snook, one of the UK's leading service design and social innovation agencies which uses design to make services better. Lauren was recently awarded an OBE for her services to design and diversity and was recently featured in ELLE UK as 30 women under 30 changing the world.
