  Jennifer Rittner

  Principal, Content Matters

  2020 Design Education Initiative Jury Captain

  Jennifer is a writer, educator and communications strategist. Her consulting firm, Content Matters, helps creative businesses thrive by defining their voice and learning how to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Prior to consulting, Jennifer worked for Pentagram, Columbia CNMTL and the AIGA. She has been published in The New York Times, Core77, Against the Grain, as well as a variety of trade publications. As an educator Jennifer led Art Access II, an initiative designed to increase museum attendance among under-served communities through education and community outreach. She has taught at Parsons and FIT, and is currently on faculty in the SVA Products of Design program where she teaches design and social impact.

  Sam Lucente

  CDO and Co-Founder, Cookbrite

  2015 Commercial Equipment Jury Member

  Sam Lucente works as the CDO and Co-Founder of Cookbrite, a food business in the technology industry. As a designer, he focuses on bringing world class design approaches to bear on complex problems for society, organizations and the design profession at large. Sam is also Principal of Lucente Design. He previously worked as VP of Design for HP Worldwide, Netscape's UX Director and head of IBM's Strategic Design where he led many ThinkPad design efforts.Selected as one of Fast Company's Masters of Design and BusinessWeek's Champions of Innovation, Sam has judged design competitions worldwide. His work has been recognized with major design awards and is in permanent collection at the SFMOMA, the NY MoMA, the Smithsonian National Design Museum and other collections. Sam studied computer science extensively. Prior to that, he graduated magna cum laude from the College of Design, Architecture and Art at the University of Cincinnati.

  Ruki Neuhold-Ravikumar

  Acting Director, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum

  Ruki Neuhold-Ravikumar is the Nerman Family President-select of the Kansas City Art Institute.
  
  Originally from Chennai, India, Ruki draws from her international experiences as a designer to reimagine education and improve access to creative career pathways. Most recently, she has served as the Acting Director of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design museum. At the height of the pandemic, Ruki was the Smithsonian’s Acting Under Secretary for education, responsible for leading a Smithsonian-wide team that responded to the distance-learning needs of families that were caught in the digital divide. Ruki has also served as the Smithsonian’s Associate Provost for education and was Director of education at the Cooper Hewitt.
  
  Before joining the Smithsonian in 2017, she was the Associate Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Central Oklahoma, where she had advanced from Professor to Director of graduate programs and Chair of the Department of Design.
  
  Ruki has served in leadership roles at all levels of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), including the AIGA Design Educators Community and local and national boards. She has been recognized by AIGA's Oklahoma Chapter with the Fellow Award in 2015 and her alma mater, Iowa State University with the Design Achievement Award in 2021.

  Andrea Simitch

  Associate Professor, Cornell University, Department of Architecture

  2016 Built Environment Jury Member

  Andrea Simitch is an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at Cornell University. She teaches courses in architectural design, architectural representation, and furniture design. She served as Director of the Bachelor of Architecture program from 2011–14, as Director of Undergraduate Studies from 2007–08, and as Associate Dean of AAP from 2002–03. She has been a panelist on the New York State Council on the Arts, a department representative for the Cornell Council for the Arts, and was a faculty collaborator with the Andrew Goldsworthy workshop at Storm King. Val Warke and she partner in a collaborative architectural practice and recent projects include the Nalati National Park Resort and the Eco-Tourism Strategic Planning Proposal, both for Nalati, China, as well as numerous design competitions that include the Arbedo Castione school in Ticino, Switzerland, the Center for Promotion of Science of the Republic of Serbia Competition, Benetton Competition "Designing in Teheran”, and the Stockholm City Library Competition.
  
  She has taught extensively for Cornell in numerous international venues that include Europe and Central and South America and is regularly invited to lecture and participate in diploma juries and symposia at peer institutions, most recently in Italy, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Student work from her furniture design course has been exhibited at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York. She was a 2015 Fellow at the Baer Art Center in Hofsós Iceland. The Language of Architecture: 26 Principles Every Architect Should Know, a book she co-authored with V. Warke and published by Rockport Publishers (June 2014) has been translated into four languages. She received her B.Arch. from Cornell in 1979 and also attended Occidental College and l'Ecole Special d'Architecture in Paris.

  Monish Sabnani

  Co-founder, Courant

  Monish Sabnani is the Co-Founder of Courant, a design-driven electronics brand focused on wireless charging for the home. Courant products are widely distributed online and in-store at retailers including West Elm, Nordstrom, CB2, and Bloomingdales, and have been recipients of recognition including several Red Dot Product Design Awards and Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies. Monish graduated with a degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Georgetown University, and was selected as part of Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2021.

  Ti Chang

  Co-founder & VP of Design, Crave

  2021 Speculative Design Jury Member

  Ti Chang is a design activist-entrepreneur and activist bridging modern design and activism. She is co-founder and VP of Design of CRAVE, a San Francisco-based company specializing in aesthetic pleasure products. Ti leads the design vision for the company’s full line of products which has won international design awards and has led CRAVE to mainstream partnerships with the likes of Nordstrom, MoMA Design Store, Goop, and Saint Laurent. 
  
  Ti is best known for her design of the Vesper vibrator necklace in 2014, an iconic necklace that symbolizes female empowerment and creating conversations to normalize pleasure. 
  
  Ti holds an M.A. in Design Products from the Royal College of Art in London and a B.S. in Industrial Design from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2021, Ti co-founded Design Allyship (designallyship.com) to provide anyone with actionable resources to improve the condition of historically marginalized designers in the industrial & product design industry.

  Maria Gaviria

  Executive Creative Director & Partner, Creable

  Maria is the Executive Creative Director and Partner at Creable, a strategic brand design agency with offices in Culver City, Bogota and Cincinnati. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Maria’s career started in advertising as she worked at Procesos Creativos / Euro RSCG, Bogota where she led the design department for many years. After gaining recognition by winning first place on the Premios Nacionales de Cultura 1996, she decided to follow her design career abroad and attend the prestigious Art Center College of Design where she graduated with Honors. Maria is also the mother of two awesome boys and splits her time between Los Angeles and Bogota.

  Antionette Carroll

  Founder, President and CEO, Creative Reaction Lab

  2020 Design for Social Impact Jury Member

  Antionette Carroll is the Founder, President and CEO of Creative Reaction Lab, a nonprofit educating and deploying youth to challenge racial and health inequities impacting Black and Latinx populations. Within this role, Antionette has pioneered an award-winning form of creative problem solving called Equity-Centered Community Design (named a Fast Company World Changing Idea Finalist). Through this capacity, Antionette has received several recognitions and awards including being named an ADL and Aspen Institute Civil Society Fellow, Roddenberry Fellow, Echoing Green Global Fellow, TED Fellow, ADCOLOR Innovator, SXSW Community Service Honoree, Camelback Ventures Fellow, 4.0 Schools Tiny Fellow, St. Louis Visionary Award Honoree for Community Impact, and Essence Magazine Woke 100.
  
  Within her almost 10 years of volunteer leadership, Antionette was named the Founding Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force of AIGA: The Professional Association of Design. She’s a former AIGA National Board Director and Chair Emerita of the Task Force. During her tenure, she founded and launched several initiatives, including the Design Census Program with Google, Racial Justice by Design Initiative, Diversity and Inclusion Residency, and national Design for Inclusivity Summit with Microsoft. Additionally, she’s the co-founder of the Design + Diversity Conference and Fellowship and an active member of Adobe's Design Circle.
  
  Antionette also is an international speaker and facilitator, previously speaking at Google, TED, Capital One, Harvard, Stanford University, Microsoft, NASA, TEDxHerndon and TEDxGatewayArch, AIGA National Conference, The Ohio State University, and more.

  Anh Nguyen

  Hoang & Anh Nguyen are the founders of Creative Session, a collaborative space for presenting trends, insights and impulsive ideas among the brothers in ways of industrial design. Industrial designers by trade but obsessed with story telling, graphics and branding.Beyond Creative Session they are leads at respectable agencies in San Francisco; Astro Studios and Matter Global. With 15 years of combined experience in consumer electronics they bring keen eye for sex appeal and functionality. They've worked on projects from small start-ups to fortune 500s.

  Chloe Georgiades

  Senior Industrial Designer, Cricut, Inc

  Chloe Georgiades is a Senior Industrial designer at Cricut, where she is fortunate to spend every day designing tools for creatives. Previously she worked in the consulting world, designing products for startups and Fortune 500 companies alike at NewDealDesign.
  
  Chloe embraces a messy and iterative creative process as a means to achieving thoughtful, polished results.
  
  She is passionate about design education and increasing diversity in the field, regularly mentoring aspiring industrial designers through programs like Offsite and Women in Design.
  
  Chloe is based in the Bay Area where the hills and the weather suit her love of cycling perfectly.

  Mike Gallagher

  Vice President of Design, Crown Equipment Corporation

  Mike Gallagher is VP of Design for Crown Equipment Corporation; a manufacturer of lift trucks and related products and services. Mike oversees the global multi-disciplined Design operations and leverages his competent staff to provide strategic innovation influence to an expanding and evolving company. Before his 20 years at Crown he held various corporate design and management positions. Mike graduated from the University of Cincinnati in Design and has juried several international design competitions. Crown Design has won over 50 major international design awards and was recognized by Fast Company Magazine as Thirty Companies that Get Design.

  Jim Kraimer

  Director of Design - EMEA & China, Crown Equipment Corporation

  Jim Kraimer is Director of Industrial Design for EMEA & China at Crown Equipment Corporation, which is a leading manufacturer of lift trucks and related products and services. Jim likes to dig deep into research and leverage new technologies that reimagine a new user experience. A key example is Crown’s QuickPick Remote® -- the world’s first glove-controlled order picker vehicle -- which is ushering in a new era of game-changing automation. Crown has won over 100 major international design awards and was recognized by Fast Company Magazine as Thirty Companies that Get Design. Prior to Crown, Jim developed futuristic products for Electrolux’s visionary Concept Design Team, and also worked at design consultancies in the USA and Germany. Jim holds 18 utility patents and has been a juror for Core77, iF Design and China Red Star Design awards. He studied Industrial Design under the tutelage of Paul Down, FISDA, at the University of Notre Dame.

  Tatyana Mamut

  2018 Strategy & Research Jury Captain

  Tatyana Mamut is a transformative leader, product innovator, and economic anthropologist.
  
  She is General Manager & Director of Product at Amazon Web Services, where she is driving the development of a revolutionary new digital product. Before that, she was Vice President & Head of Product Experience for the Salesforce IoT Cloud, a big data, real-time event processing platform. She also led Salesforce’s Re-Invention of the premier CRM product, culminating in the “Lightning Experience.”
  
  Tatyana also built and led the Organization Design Practice at global design firm IDEO. She led many high-stakes IDEO engagements including the creation of digital tools to drive citizen engagement and cultural transformation for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, development and scaling of a User-Centered Innovation Culture at Life Technologies, and the Human Centered Design (HCD) Toolkit for the Gates Foundation. She has also founded two successful consulting businesses, Emergent Thinking and CS Solutions. She has won numerous design awards for her work at IDEO and holds multiple design patents for her work at Salesforce and Amazon.
  
  Tatyana has a PhD in economic anthropology from UC Berkeley and a BA in economics from Amherst College. She is a keynote speaker at global conferences and lectures at the Stanford D-School, focusing on technology & innovation — as well as the role of leadership & culture in creating and sustaining long-term competitive advantage in a rapidly-changing world.

  Ken Mak

  Co-Founder, daCompany

  2017 Transportation Jury Member

  Ken Mak is co-founder of daCompany, an upcoming start-up delivering insights for cannabis patients into their consumption to disrupt the medicinal distribution model. He is concurrently developing With Eaze, a housewares company emphasizing clean solutions for the home. His work has spanned across industrial design, software development, product management and product marketing.
  
  In addition to these ventures, Ken is principal of Orenga Design, a product consultancy in San Francisco helping technology companies deliver innovative user experiences. He is currently leading industrial design for Cisco's Unified Computing System’s division, responsible for a $4B portfolio. Prior to this group, he was Senior Creative Lead for Cisco's flagship Telepresence system, garnering a Red Dot Best of the Best Award.
  
  Over the past 15 years, he has released 75+ products in the electronics and hard goods space for the likes of HP, Sony, Google, Disney, Black & Decker and a multitude of startups, earning iF Design, R&D 100, and CES Innovations Awards.
  
  Ken holds a Bachelor of Science from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and has been a senior lecturer at the California College of Arts in San Francisco.
