British illustrator and author Marion Deuchars works with major design and advertising agencies, publishes illustrated children's books and has created a globally recognized style of hand-lettering. Whether it's client work for the likes of The Royal Mail and The Imperial War Museum, or inspiring youngsters with her Let's Make Great Art books, Marion's impact on the creative scene continues to be wide-ranging. She is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale and represented the UK at Helsinki's World Design Capital celebrations.Her latest book, Draw Paint Print like the Great Artists, was published by Laurence King in Autumn 2014.
Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg is a designer, artist and writer. Seeking new roles for design, Daisy is developing experimental design approaches to help us imagine alternative ideals around technology. Through the design of objects, workshops, and writing and curating, her practice investigates both aesthetic and ethical futures for design. Daisy's collaborators include scientists, engineers, artists, designers, social scientists, galleries and industry around the world.
She began a PhD by practice, The Dream of Better, exploring the idea of a 'better' future, at the Royal College of Art in London, in 2013. As Design Fellow on Synthetic Aesthetics (Stanford University/University of Edinburgh, 2010-2013), Daisy curated an international research project, developing novel modes of collaboration and critical discourse between synthetic biology, art and design. Daisy is lead author onSynthetic Aesthetics: Investigating Synthetic Biology's Designs on Nature (MIT Press, March 2014). She led the curatorial team for Grow Your Own - Life After Nature, a flagship exhibition about synthetic biology at Science Gallery, Dublin (October 2013 - January 2014).
Daisy studied architecture at the University of Cambridge, design at Harvard University and Design Interactions MA at the Royal College of Art. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including MoMA New York, London's Design Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Israel Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo and the National Museum of China. Daisy publishes, teaches and lectures internationally: talks include TEDGlobal, PopTech and Design Indaba; she guest-edited Current Opinion in Chemical Biology (December 2012). In 2011, her collaborative work E. chromi was nominated for Designs of The Year and the Index Awards and was collected by the new Museo Delle Scienze in Trento. Daisy won the 2011 World Technology Award for Design and received the first London Design Medal for Emerging Talent in 2012. Daisy leads Studio Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg Ltd.
Danny Kuo is a Dutch designer currently based in Shanghai.
As a designer he wants to address the issue of our changing reality as a result of technological progress. This is why flexibility and adaptability are the keywords with regard to both his work and his life. By creating effective products he wants to improve our lives and offer something we can enjoy.
When Danny Kuo designs his objects, he is not only concerned about playful flexibility but also about enhanced usability.
Aimee Franco is an independent design consultant based in Brooklyn, NY. She studied industrial design at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan and currently works on projects that span the physical and digital product realms.
Passionate about designing for impact, Aimee has spent most of her career working in the healthcare space. Early on, she worked with Fortune 500 medical technology companies as an industrial designer at Tekna. Later, she collaborated with iDE Cambodia on healthcare-focused international development projects, and she began designing digital experiences. More recently, as Product Design Lead at Caremerge, she worked on designing a care coordination platform for older adults, and has since become an independent consultant.
Aimee has also taught as an adjunct instructor for Startup Institute’s web design program.
Dan Chen is a designer and engineer. He communicates his ideas through working prototypes, investigating new ways of approaching user interactions.
He has several degrees including a MAS from MIT, an MFA in digital media from RISD and a BFA in communication design from UConn. He has over 8 years of design experience and now works at Culture Robotics as senior engineer. Previous positions include MIT Lifelong Kindergarten as an industrial designer. Johnson & Johnson as Senior Interaction Designer. Senior Interaction Designer at IDEO.
His personal work has been featured in CNET, The Huffington Post, the verge, Engadget, Mashable and Daily Mail. Dan was invited as a speaker at TEDx Vienna on the future of intimacy in 2016. His work was exhibited in Vitra Design Museum, MAK Wien, Design Museum Gent & Ars Electronica.
Working in the realms of robotics, communication design, interaction design and product design, Dan explores the new ways of communication and human experience through working prototypes and storytelling, inviting a reflective evaluation and implication.
Kristin is a product designer based in New York. Before transitioning into a product design role, she worked as a User Experience Researcher at Facebook and Refinery29. She is passionate about mission-driven technology and in her free time volunteers as a designer for Tech of Campaigns, an organization that connects tech workers with state-level political campaigns.
Elizabeth Costa is an industrial designer focused in experiential and environmental design.
Heather has been working in packaging design since the beginning of her industrial design career. Her packaging experience has spanned from helping startup brands launch their first consumer product to advising corporations on how smart packaging design can solve business and consumer challenges. She has worked for in-house teams and design agencies. Some brands Heather has worked for or with include OtterBox, Beats by Dre, Square, Lyft, Polaroid, and Microsoft. She holds a Master’s in Design Strategy and Innovation from Brunel University in London, England and a Bachelor’s in Industrial Design from Auburn University. Currently Heather works as a packaging design consultant.
Mikki is an Australian writer, editor, and photographer based in New York City by way of Barcelona and Paris. Currently a contributing editor for Surface and Metropolis (where she was previously editor-at-large), she has covered all things design and architecture for many publications including Architectural Digest, AFAR, Details, Dwell, ICON, and Luxe Interiors & Design.
Lalita Abhyankar is a family medicine physician based in Brooklyn, New York and provides full spectrum patient-centered primary care for all ages. She currently consults for a federally qualified health center improving care of older adults through collaborative research and design methods, targeting electronic health record chart review and interdisciplinary workflows for end of life conversations. She also serves as the Chair of Advocacy for the New York State Academy of Family Physicians and is a regular contributing author to the American Academy of Family Physicians Fresh Perspectives blog.
Sarah Fathallah is an independent designer, researcher, and educator, who specializes in applying participatory research and design to the social sector, with impact-driven clients like the International Domestic Workers Federation, the International Rescue Committee, and Open Society Foundations, to name a few. Sarah co-founded Design Gigs for Good, a free community-driven resource to help more people use the tools of design to create positive social change. Sarah is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris, where she studied International Business and Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Affairs. She also studied design innovation at the Paris Est d.school, User Experience design at General Assembly, and participatory design at MIT.
Robyn is a mindful creative leader and intentional mentor, working in advertising, content and editorial. She has concepted and directed global campaigns, launched and reimagined brands, and managed creative teams worldwide. With a focus on beauty and fashion, she’s worked with some of the most loved brands, agencies and startups, both in-house and as a consultant. A widely published writer on travel, trends, fashion, beauty, and badass women, Robyn is a public speaker on women’s empowerment and has taught courses in feminist theory, media and contemporary fashion studies at NYU, Hunter College and Hobart & William Smith Colleges. Based in Brooklyn with her boyfriend and their dogs, Princess and Frank.

Yasaman Sheri is a Designer and Director working with interfaces for sensing. Sheri’s research focuses on interaction of humans, machines and living things, exploring sensing beyond vision, machine perception, networked systems and augmentation of body, objects and ecologies. She has the led Core Interaction Design for the first consumer level Augmented Reality Operating System Head-Mounted Display: Microsoft Hololens and Hololens2 Windows Holographic focusing on intuitive gestural interfaces. She works closely with various companies and organizations including Toyota, Google(X), Ginkgo Bioworks, NASA Ames Research Center and others as facilitator to explore sensing and perception in Design. She is also an educator, teaching Graduate Industrial Design at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and Biodesign and Sensory Design at Copenhagen Institute for Interaction Design (CIID) and is frequent critic at Columbia GSAPP, Art Center College, NYU, Cooper Union, ZHdK, and Stanford University.
Morgan Hutchinson, MD is the Assistant Medical Director of the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Emergency Department, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Director of Education for the Jefferson Health Design Lab where she directs the first curricular design thinking program in a US medical school. She is a creator, educator, international speaker, clinical leader and advisor working at the intersection of human-centered design, medical education and clinical quality improvement. Her work has been highlighted by the New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Business Journal, Pennsylvania Medical Society and others.
Morgan is passionate about applying human-centered design to reimagining healthcare. Morgan’s created Jefferson’s COVID-19 Mobile Unit to increase access to testing and vaccines in Philadelphia’s vulnerable communities, and has advised on multiple mobile health programs focusing on primary care, women's health and cancer prevention. She has led multiple initiatives to expand clinical spaces to boost surge capacity; leverage 3D-print technology to meet supply chain shortages, and reimagine healthcare services. She has advised and partnered with diverse teams across industries to find creative, collaborative solutions to challenges in service design, health equity and medical education.
Scott is someone who throws around words like design, product, and strategy, but ultimately just likes working with interesting colleagues on exciting software products for people who need them. In recent years, he has led design at Capitol AI, a startup aiming to modernize and simplify data storytelling, and Azavea, a geospatial software shop committed to civic, social, and environmental good. Some time ago, he designed & stewarded the local search experience on Google Maps for about 4 years. And threaded throughout his career are sundry adventures in design & strategy for startups known & unknown. He lives in Philadelphia and is desperate to tell fewer dad jokes.
