Interactive flip book installation built for the Tweed Visitor Center in Smith Falls, Ontario. User interaction with the hand cranked machines showcased the growth stages of a cannabis plant, from seedling to flower. The project was part of Tweed's brand identity in educating the public about the evolving Canadian cannabis industry.
Three wooden cabinets feature 9 Large Museum Grade FlipBooks, each measuring 12"x 10" and featuring a metal chassis, machined spindle assembly, and hand crafted cards.
Each metal chassis contained a gear motor, spindle assembly, timing, and/or position sensing circuitry, and self illumination wiring.
The crank mechanisms contained a shaft and hardware with rotational sensors, bearings, and resistive gearing mechanisms.
Programming and action of the animations was achieved with a Micro controller with motor and LED drivers, along with crank and position sensing inputs.
All animations were hand drawn, printed on canvas cards, and the hand assembled with stainless steel posts.
