Fitbit Versa

Fitbit Versa is a lightweight, modern and approachable everyday health and fitness smartwatch. Advanced 24/7 heart rate and sleep tracking, personalized dashboard displaying pertinent health and activity data, on-wrist exercise modes, and smart features such as wallet-free payments (SE version), notifications, on-device music and 4+ days battery life (varies with use and other factors). This technology is housed in Versa's ultra-thin, robotically cut, aerospace grade aluminum case that is water-resistant up to 50 meters. The team worked with CNC experts to find an optimized cutting path for the case that was cost and energy efficient, yet allowed for an elegant and comfortable metal unibody. The case form gives a sense of familiarity with the rounded square silhouette inspired by traditional watches, yet allows users to easily read digital content such as text messages and notifications with the optimized 1:1 ratio display. Versa is designed to fit small and large wrists comfortably due to a tapered universal design – and allows for a personalization through anodized case colors and a suite of bands including metal links, metal mesh, classic ™Horween leather and a custom quad weave textile.

When developing Fitbit Versa, Fitbit had to determine a way to pack advanced health and fitness features in a smaller, lighter and visually attractive design. Fitbit also had to overcome the technical challenges of designing a metal unibody watch case that allowed Bluetooth and WiFi to work without compromise. Fitbit began by defining size and form requirements that would appeal to men and women. The team then developed the hardware for a great health and fitness smartwatch experience – designing an ultra-thin, robotically cut anodized aluminum case and reconfiguring sensors to fit a smaller size. Fitbit Versa shipped over one million devices in the first six weeks, making it the fastest-selling device in Fitbit history.
