W-S Cooling

W-S Cooling is a Wind-solar complementary power generation device installed in farms that integrates a misting system. It utilizes MOFs material to absorb moisture from the air, and then transfers the waste heat from the solar panels through a thermal tube to the MOFs, causing it to evaporate and obtain water that is used by the misting system to cool down the crops and reduce heat damage. The design of the Archimedean spiral blades and wind tunnel cover enhances power generation efficiency, fan stability, and structural strength. At the bottom, W-S Cooling has an energy storage system that provides electricity to households or farms in the area, forming a new type of agricultural-electricity symbiosis.

Issue

Due to the severe impact of climate change, many countries are strongly promoting green energy development, such as wind, solar, and hydrogen energy, in an attempt to reduce carbon emissions. As the amount of land available for future use is decreasing, a strategy of Agro-Photovoltaics has been developed to utilize idle agricultural land for green energy installations. In recent years, temperatures have noticeably increased which has not only led to a higher probability of drought but also affected agriculture, fishing, animal husbandry and even human health. Frequent droughts have caused an increase in water demand and a shortage of water in agriculture resulting in crops being unable to grow properly or being damaged by heat.

Problem

1. The hot climate causes heat damage to crops

2. The drought has made water scarce

3. There is not enough land to lay a large number of green electricity installations

4. The laying of solar panels destroys the local environment and ecology

5. Energy constraints and climate factors require a green transition

Device introduction

W-S Cooling utilizes a wind and solar complementary power generation system to maintain stable electricity production. The generated power is stored in the bottom storage device to avoid transmission losses to distant power stations. When the wind passes through the W-S Cooling, the wind deflector of the wind tunnel hood will bring the air into the device and the MOFs will absorb the water in the air. The mechanism for releasing water is through a heat pipe that transfers the waste heat from the solar panel into the MOFs material, allowing the MOFs to evaporate and obtain water, providing mist for the sprayer to cool temperature. A solar-powered cleaning brush on the outside of the wind tunnel will activate when the solar panels become dirty to maintaining power efficiency. The installation of an elevator makes it easy for maintenance personnel to access the device. The white and yellow color scheme of W-S Cooling creates a clean energy image and does not appear out of place when installed in agricultural fields. The tower and casing of W-S Cooling are made of Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (FRP). The connection between the elevator and wind tunnel hood is supported by steel cables. MOFs are obtained through industrial extruders.

Anticipate

The design of W-S Cooling addresses the issue of hindered crop growth and heat damage caused by high temperatures as well as the problem of land shortage and difficulty in installing green energy devices in the future. W-S Cooling is a Wind-solar complementary power generation system that incorporates a wind tunnel hood, solar panels, and an Archimedes spiral fan blade design. It is not only increases power generation but also provides high-stability power generation efficiency. The solar panels are installed around the wind tunnel hood, which also addresses concerns about the ecological impact of installing solar panels on flat ground. W-S Cooling utilizes MOFs material to provide water source for the sprayer, reducing agricultural water usage by eliminating the need for additional water sources. The Agro-Photovoltaics strategy not only provides additional income for farmers but also reduces the installation cost of green energy devices for photovoltaic power plant operators through land leasing.

SDGs

W-S Cooling is committed to addressing pressing global challenges to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

SDG2: Through our spray cooling system, W-S Cooling helps crops grow successfully, mitigating the impact of heat damage caused by high temperatures.

SDG6: W-S Cooling uses Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) to absorb water from the air, achieving self-sufficiency in water resources and reducing water usage in agriculture.

SDG7: Our Archimedes spiral fan blades and solar panels installed around the wind tunnel hood increase the proportion of renewable energy in the energy mix, supporting sustainable development.

SDG11: W-S Cooling's strategy of combining agriculture with energy generation promotes positive economic, social, and environmental linkages between urban, suburban, and rural areas, fostering sustainable and inclusive communities.

W-S Cooling creates a resilient food production system that ADAPTS to climate change and extreme weather. It can improve the efficiency of water use in agriculture and solve the problem of water shortage. In addition, the use of renewable energy helps to reduce carbon emissions. The agricultural PV strategy promotes circular economy, strengthens links between different regions and promotes greater cooperation and mutual benefit. A strategy of Agro-Photovoltaics that promotes positive economic, social and environmental linkages between urban, suburban and rural areas.
