MEERKAT COIN

Concept

MEERKAT COIN is an APP that combines games and financial education. Children enjoy raising virtual pet meerkats and building burrows while learning about finance, including money management and mobile payment. Families can convert credit bonuses or cash into electronic pocket money for children, and children can earn compassion tokens to play games by completing tasks, such as cleaning and helping others.

The virtual and physical monetary interactions allow children to record their spending and form bookkeeping habits. The plots and special missions, such as bank savings, charitable donations, and investment, expand children's scope of financial concept.

Background

Problem.01

"Financial management" is inseparable from every individual or family, but most adults lack correct concepts and knowledge of financial management because of the lack of complete financial management education in their upbringing.

Problem.02

FQ (financial quotient), following IQ and EQ, has become a widely recognized fundamental human quality for children in modern society. Developing skills of mathematical sciences is critical to children aged 4 to 6 years. As for the slightly more difficult financial management skills, the critical period for development is when children are 5-14 years old.

Learning financial management and developing FQ helps children manage interpersonal relationships. Research shows that FQ and EQ are more relevant to career success than IQ.

Target customer

Grades Pre-K–2(3-5YRS)

With the storyline, children understand the currency. The token is integrated with the concept of arithmetic and savings for children to go further and learn how to manage money.

Grades 3–5(6-12YRS)
Set savings goals, prioritize needs and wants, and explore career development scenarios.undefined

Grades 6-8(13-15YRS)

Learn about smart spending, evaluate options of savings banks, discuss ramifications of debts, and build career paths.

PARENTs

Provide pocket money management, send educational learning tasks, review children's financial situation and planning, and assist children in learning financial planning.

Game-education experience

MEERKAT COIN is an APP based on stored-value mobile payment. Money transactions through mobile payments and games between the parent end and the child end teach children the concept of managing personal finances and financial knowledge. As children grow older, savings and other banking products and functions are added to nurture prospective bank customers gradually.

Flowchart of operation mode

Diagram of money flow

Parents first inject some pocket money as an incentive for the child to complete tasks and learn to manage daily spending. The spending of both parties can be converted into dividends for the bank to increase the incentive for spending, and the customer can redeem the rebate.

Financial services and relationships

In the cycle of business model, the bank recommends the pocket money service to parents for their child to learn about financial planning indirectly through MEERKAT COIN and continue to use the revolving benefits of related services provided by banking institutions when the child has the ability to manage wealth in the future.

B2B financial ecosystem

The game allows marketing through the physical channel, linking the POS and the system of the physical channel.
