Mr. Pip's Double Cross Packaging

Face-to-face social connection has been on the decline. We are losing the important art of real game play. Mr. Pip is a new brand with the goal of drawing people around the world back to face-to-face game play and social interaction. Mr. Pip's Double Cross reinvents the classic game 'Liar's Dice' as an elegant home décor object, sparking conversation and impromptu play. The unique, environmentally conscious molded pulp packaging utilizes the iconic form to raise curiosity and attract customers at the POS. Rubber bands were selected to remove the usage of glue from our packaging, allowing our product to be opened and closed in store without damage. Multiple units stack securely to dramatically conserve space both on the shelf and in shipping. This allows more units to be shipped in fewer boxes, reducing the overall carbon footprint of the product.

Pip Tompkin Studio introduces Mr. Pip, our consumer product line of classic games reinvented with thoughtful design and pure elegance. In development of the packaging for Mr. Pips Double Cross, it was imperative we built the packaging upon the iconic form of the product. We developed molded pulp packaging that highlighted the design of the product, and provided a form which stacks and tessellates. The packaging, like the product it shelters, is capable of being stacked in the same unique way that Double Cross is shelved and stored.

Stackable packaging that conserves space on the shelf and in shipping and allows for a smaller footprint, less empty space which results in the need for fewer shipping containers and less space in storage facilities and therefore reduces the products carbon footprint. Using this tessellating packaging reduced the total shipping size by 1/3.
