Always Fresh Water Container
1. Summarize the problem you set out to solve. What was the challenge posed to you? Did it get you excited and why?
-Water is crucial in one’s survival when a disaster happens. How to make the water storage easier and require less work is the biggest challenge.
-How to detach the container from the water pipes when emergency happens.
-How to make the water circulate thoroughly inside the container.
2. What point of view did you bring to the challenge? Was there anything additional that you wanted to achieve with this project or bring to this project that was not part of the original brief?
By connecting to the plumbing system, the container becomes part of the water circuit. As a result, the water stored will be always fresh.
The U shaped container will help the water circulation inside the container.
When emergency happens, the user only need 3 easy steps to detach the container from the water pipes. The container can be easily carried around to a safe location.
3. When designing this project, whose interests did you consider? (Discuss various stakeholders, audiences, retailing, manufacturing, assembly, distribution, etc., for example.)
The users no longer need to replace their water storage every six month. It will make its user always ready for an emergency.
4. Describe the rigor that informed your design. (Research, ethnography, subject matter experts, materials exploration, technology, iteration, testing, etc., as applicable.) If this was a strictly research or strategy project, please provide more detail here.
-The Red Cross recommends "Change your stored water supply every six months so it stays fresh." However, few people remember to do so.
-The connector fits to all standard plumbing system under sink.
5. What is the social value of your design? (Gladdening, educational, economic, paradigm-shifting, sustainable, labor-mindful, environmental, cultural, etc.) How does it earn its keep in the world?
It will make people always prepared for disasters.
6. If you could have done one thing differently with the project, what would you have changed?
Make it more stylish that fits into home decoration.
Julie Lasky: An ingeniously simple way to avoid changing one's emergency water supply every six months, this tank is attached to the user's plumbing system, so fresh water runs through it continuously. In case of emergency, it detaches in three easy steps.
