Green pixel

we started the project from the idea of urban farming -Design a system of self-picking of fresh vegetables for the urban people who pursue high quality life under current fast city rhythm. We wish to offer convenient and fresh vegetables for our clients.

With the fast development of society, people have higher demands in food quality and healthy dietary structure. The consumption attitudes of the middle class in China seems to shift from delicious junk food containing unhealthy ingredients to healthy and natural organic foods. A growing number of people now prefer a healthier life style.

The pursuit of food safety becomes a major trend of consumption upgrading. According to Nielsen's market research, safety (63%) and health (58%) turns out to be the most important measures of consumers. With the promotion of urbanization, growth of the middle class, improvement of people's living standards, and increasing younger customers, food quality and safety, instead of price, come to be the most important factor when people buy vegetables. About 77% of Chinese consumers say they are more trusting of transparent food processing enterprises (The global index is 73%) and 70% are more likely to patronize stores that offer more choices and meet special dietary needs (a global index of 57%). However, current market fails to meet this demand and only 40% of respondents are satisfied with the selections of health food categories.

With the rising of food safety problems and consumers' health awareness, the process of food handling and whether its source can be traced attracts more attention. Through these information, consumers want to make sure the quality of the products.Thus, where to buy the pure natural, non-polluting, ang safe nutrition of fresh fruit and vegetables becomes a focus.

As an agriculture-oriented country, China, in a macro sense, the development of vegetable ordering service not only provides positive promoting effect to China's agricultural development, but also establishes a steady relationship between the service supply enterprises and vegetable production bases. In the micro sense, the highly efficient and transparent vegetable ordering model offers great advantages including reducing agricultural stock and capital consumption, simplifying the middle link, reducing the circulation cost, reaching scale maximum so as to guarantee the food quality.

Thus, the key point of our design is how to make a healthier, more convenient and transparent vegetable supply model. Based on the needs of consumers, we provide them with product information, branded fruits and vegetables, more reliable suppliers and better delivery services.

Through research and analysis, we started the project from the idea of urban farming -Design a system of self-picking of fresh vegetables for the urban people who pursue high quality life under current fast city rhythm. We wish to offer convenient and fresh vegetables for our clients.

This vending machine growing vegetables and we name it green pixel.

Vegetable ordering involves a wide range of services. Consumers value not only the interactive experience of the interface of intelligent products, but also the experience of delivery service. The most important thing is to establish the trust in food security. We've adjusted the pattern of vegetable ordering, after the user selects vegetables on the mobile phone, the supplier will distribute the seeds to the green pixel in the user's chosen area. When the vegetable matures, APP will remind the user. During its growing season, the green pixel will visualize the growth process and provide it to the user. Users can share the growth of a vegetable with photos or videos on social platforms. Thus, we changed the traditional "Order and then Delivery" pattern into a more interest "Plant and then Harvest" way.

Moreover, we also consider how to maximize utilization of resources. Users can sell their rest of vegetables at a price lower than the purchase price. Others can simply scan and open the green pixel and take the leftover, so as to reduce the waste in the ordering process.

We put up a transparent supplying standard to provide better service experience.

Due to concerns about food safety, we want to dismiss customers' worries through our APP. Meanwhile, we learn that the public are unsatisfied with the delivery service offered by the current electronic commerce platform for the uncertainty of delivery time and products with low quality. Then we shared the idea of the "green pixel" with some people in the community, and 90% of them approved our idea which greatly encouraged us. Through our APP, we hope everyone can eat safer and healthier and make a contribution to our society.

Nowadays, more and more people live in cities. While the technology is highly developed, the urban land is largely decreased. we hope to recall people's nature of planring and create a symbiotic ecological city with technology.

Green Pixel gives us

1. A new and local supply chain provided fresh vegetables in the city.

2. A conceivable visual growing record.

3. A new experience which allow you to pick up your own vegetables in anytime, anywhere

4. A stable supply of vegetables.

5. Fewer vegetables that rot and waste as a result of hoarding.

6. Lower costs than traditional farms.

We believe that the "green pixel" is not a ending but a whole new start.

Technical support

By visiting the Xiaotangshan Vegetable Grand View Garden (agricultural technology station in Beijing) and investigating the relevant professionals, we got technological support in hardware. Based on hydroponic technology, our product are cultivated with nutrient-removing solution and lighted with specific spectra light. In the summer, we use the Evaporate Cooling pad and oil tincture heating system in the winter through which guarantee its growing throughout the year.

Temperature control

Summer cooling: Through evaporate cooling pad system, we use a negative pressure fan to eliminate the internal air so that to create negative pressure, which automatically inhales the external air. As the external air go through the wet curtain, the moisture of the wet curtain evaporates will cool the inhaled air and lower the temperature. The wet curtain cooling effect is remarkable. What's more, without special refrigerants, this system is a environmental friendly one with only one-tenth of traditional air-conditioning in term of power consumption.

Winter warming: With oil tincture heating system, the device is equipped with a pipeline filled with heat conduction oil to ensure the intelligent constant temperature of the incubator, which is safe and sanitary.

Pest control: The growth space of the incubator in the device is relatively closed and the insect can hardly enter, making it possible for the plant to avoid insect pests during the growth process.
