Justin McGuirk is a writer, critic and curator based in London. He is the director of Strelka Press, the publishing arm of the Strelka Institute in Moscow, and the design consultant to Domus. He has been the design columnist for The Guardian and the editor of Icon magazine. In 2012 he was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale of Architecture for an exhibition he curated with Urban Think Tank. He is currently working on a book about activist architecture and social housing in Latin America.

Sam Jacob is a Director of internationally acclaimed architecture practice FAT where he has been responsible for award winning projects in the UK and abroad that include cultural, retail, housing and commercial projects for clients including Selfridges, BBC and Igloo. His work has been exhibited at major institutions such as the Venice Biennale, MAK and the V&A. He is design critic for Art Review, contributing editor for Icon, and contributes to many other publications including co-editing a recent issue of AD, a launch title for the Strelka Press alongside editing strangeharvest.com. Sam is Professor of Architecture at UIC and Director of the forthcoming Night
School at the AA.

Principal at BERG

Matt is a Principal at BERG and has been delivering digital products and services since 1995. He was Creative Director for the launch version of the BAFTA award-winning BBC News Online. He also worked at Nokia on RFID/NFC applications of tangible/physical interfaces and the human universal experience of play. Later, he was Director of User-Experience Design for Nokia’s Nseries range. Then he co-founded and designed Dopplr.com, which grew into an influential and popular start-up travel service before being sold to Nokia in the autumn of 2009.
He studied Architecture, qualifying in 1995 RIBA Part II and BArch from the Welsh School of Architecture. He has spoken at events such as Reboot, Ars Electronica, Webstock, O’Reilly’s Etech and FooCamp; is a visiting tutor at the Royal College of Art and has written on interaction design, comic books and planetary-scale, self-replicating robot dogs for 10 years at www.magicalnihilism.com.

Chief Curator, Lisbon Architecture Triennale

Beatrice Galilee is a London-based Curator, Writer, Critic, Consultant and Lecturer of contemporary architecture and design. Trained in BSc Architecture at Bath University, and an MSc History of Architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, Beatrice is the Chief Curator of the 2013 Lisbon Architecture Triennale.



She is the Co-Founder and Director of The Gopher Hole, an exhibition and event space in London, architectural consultant and writer at DomusWeb and associate lecturer at Central St Martins. She curated ‘Hacked’ at the 2012 Milan Design Fair, ‘Communities’ at the 2011 Gwangju Design Biennale in Korea and was a co-curator of the 2009 Shenzhen Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism.



From 2006-2009 Beatrice was Architecture Editor for Icon Magazine, one of Europe’s leading publications in architecture and design. Beatrice Galilee’s writing has been published in a number of international magazines and books as well as mainstream newspapers. These include Domus, Frieze, Abitare, Tank, Pin-Up, Building Design, Architectural Review, Today, RIBA Journal, DAMn, Frame, Wallpaper, Another Magazine and the Serpentine Pavilion catalogue.
